Character profiles

Creating the profiles

In last week’s lesson we discussed creating profiles for the main characters of the play.

We agreed that the information for each profile should include:

1) Image or picture

2) What type of person is this (happy, sad, evil, contented, greedy, ambitious, brave?)

3) Who are they related to?

4) Famous words or quotes from that person.

5) What impact/effect do they have on other characters & the play as a whole?

All the information can be found by using a general google search, No Fear Shakespeare,

Wikipedia and bbc bitesize an excellent section on the characters. The link for this is:

The character that you need to profile. Macbeth Lady Macbeth Banquo Duncan Macduff The witches

Lady Macbeth

  • (^) Ambitious
  • (^) Evil
  • (^) Manipulative
  • Loyal to her husband
  • (^) Ruthless “Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here And fill me from the crown to the toe topfull Of direst cruelty;” “Are you a man” “Screw your courage to the sticking place and we’ll not fail”. “Come, a little water clears us of this deed”. Lady Macbeth is even more ambitious and ruthless than her husband. As soon as an opportunity to gain power presents itself, she has a plan in mind. She uses her influence to persuade Macbeth to murder Duncan. For a while she is able to keep up the evil and manipulation. However, entually she becomes unable to deal with the guilt of what she has done. She becomes unable to sleep, and mentally unstable, eventually dying in tragic circumstances.
