Chemistry: Easing Life of Humanities
When I was in grade school, we only studied a little about chemistry. As what I
remember on this topic, it is all about matter. Matter is something that has mass and occupies
space. Based on our discussion, matter is made up of atoms and commonly takes the form of
solids, liquids or gases. We also discussed energy. Energy is a phenomena or waves such as light
or sound. On the other hand, we have also discussed that atoms are the smallest unit of matter
that cannot be divided into smaller particles, according to John Dalton. These atoms then
perform as the building block of every element, forming other structures. Unfortunately, we did
not execute any experiments to fulfill the satisfaction of our learning.
With a basic knowledge of Chemistry, I bravely presented myself to this program to help
my knowledge grow more, even though I know that this subject is clearly difficult but
challenging in a good way. Chemistry is the central science in many ways.)It is crucial in
successfully completing this program.)An understanding of chemistry, of enthalpy and entropy
can help to explain so many occurrences in and around us. )Entropy, the order or disorder of a
system, and the degrees of freedom associated with that order or disorder has applications
beyond this course.)
)First, I am not aware that most of the common objects that we deal with every day are
simple to demonstrate that they have mass and take up space. Even though these things cannot be
seen in our eyes without the use of a microscope-for instance, air (and all gases) are invisible in
the eye, they have light masses compared to solids and liquids. With an increase in the order of a
system there is a decrease to the degrees of freedom.)This applies not only to chemical reactions,
but to the world in which we live.)
Chemistry helps me to identify physical properties that we can observe and measure
without changing the)chemical identity)of the sample. Physical properties are used to describe
matter and make observations about it.)Physical properties)include color, shape, position, volume
and boiling point, while chemical properties only reveal themselves when the sample has reacted
with a catalyst.)Examples of chemical properties)include flammability, reactivity and toxicity. It
is important for us to know the properties of matter so that we can easily recognize things
through their mass, volume, weight, density, odor, and color. (Madhusha 2017) physical
properties can be observed without changing the chemical composition of a substance whereas
chemical properties can be observed by changing the chemical composition of a substance.”
These are the characteristics that help us to see matter, feel matter, and taste matter.
Energy saving has been an elusive quest for many of us living in urban developed cities.
We need energy for everything in our household and it is one of the earmarks of modern living
and convenience. “We use energy for everything in the home and in the office and basically to
perform daily tasks.” - (Renewable Energy World). In our lives, energy)is a very important entity

An understanding of chemistry, of enthalpy and entropy can help to explain so many occurrences in and around us. Entropy, the order or disorder of a system, and the degrees of freedom associated with that order or disorder has applications beyond this course. First, I am not aware that most of the common objects that we deal with every day are simple to demonstrate that they have mass and take up space. It is important for us to know the properties of matter so that we can easily recognize things through their mass, volume, weight, density, odor, and color_._ (Madhusha 2017) – “ physical properties can be observed without changing the chemical composition of a substance whereas chemical properties can be observed by changing the chemical composition of a substance.” These are the characteristics that help us to see matter, feel matter, and taste matter. Energy saving has been an elusive quest for many of us living in urban developed cities. We need energy for everything in our household and it is one of the earmarks of modern living and convenience. “We use energy for everything in the home and in the office and basically to perform daily tasks.” - (Renewable Energy World). In our lives, energy is a very important entity in the modern world. We use energy to light our homes, drive our cars, and power our electronic devices. Energy is essential in our daily lives, especially since most of our work is dependent on

technology. For example, I use energy for lighting, gadgets and other appliances. “Energy is defined as the capacity of a physical system to perform work. However, it's important to keep in mind that just because energy exists, that doesn't mean it's necessarily available to do work.”- (Jones 2018). In addition, “Human societies are also dependent on energy for infrastructure, transportation, food, and most other types of human activities”- Clean. According to Adam Augustyn (2020), Measurement is the process of associating numbers with physical quantities and phenomena. Measurement is fundamental to the sciences; to engineering, construction, and other technical fields; and to almost all everyday activities.”. Langley et.al said “Measurements provide the macroscopic information that is the basis of most of the hypotheses, theories, and laws that describe the behavior of matter and energy in both the macroscopic and microscopic domains of chemistry. Every measurement provides three kinds of information: the size or magnitude of the measurement (a number); a standard of comparison for the measurement (a unit); and as represented when a quantity is written. Measurement is very important in our daily lives. Element is the simplest form of matter that has a unique set of properties. Today we have standardized sizes for most items, and we use them without thinking. Chakraborty, Abeer (2016) said “Measurement provides a standard for everyday things and processes. From weight, temperature, length even time is a measurement and it does play a very important role in our lives.” Case in point, when buying wet goods, we do not say, buy a lump of beef instead we buy it through its kilogram or pound. Bottom line is that you do not have some form of reference to define how many, how long, or what weight etc., you are going to buy. Measurement is one of the most important and widely used applications of mathematics. As a science major student, what I can see in the future about science, scientists will become more interested to seek and study in any field of deeper science. The effort to discover how the physical world works by making observations and measurements and carrying out experiments. Science is important because it influences most aspects of everyday life, including food, energy, medicine, transportation, leisure activities and more. Science improves human life at every level, from individual comfort to global issues. Science is also responsible for innumerable advances in modern medicine. In addition, science is also responsible for human use of electricity, a vital component of modern life. Anne Helmenstine, Ph. D., (2020) said Chemistry is important in everyday life because: “Everything is made of chemicals.”. Yes, that’s a fact you are made of chemicals. Many of the changes we observe in the world around us are caused by chemical reactions. Knowing some chemistry can help us make day-to-day decisions that affect our life. Chemistry is important to daily life presents itself in a number of different and important ways, as the field studies diverse topics and subject matter. Chemistry is important because of its relevance to topics such as medicine, cooking and food. Without chemistry, society's understanding of these topics would not be as deep. As a future science teacher, it is a big help for me to understand and give more knowledge in the field of science that I can use to teach to my students. These knowledges will surely help me and my students in the future to use to enhance our logical reasoning and critical thinking skills. I can use this knowledge to collect, organize and interpret numerical data, understand and develop across physical, life, and Earth science discipline. Imagine the world without matter, energy and measurement? Life would be hard and impossible. From every little
