Frontage - โ˜‘๏ธ the size of a building facing the street Fully engulfed - โ˜‘๏ธ Fire, heat & smoke in a structure that are so widespread that internal access must wait until fire streams can be applied Hook Ladder - โ˜‘๏ธ short ladder with a long hook at the top. The hook is used to smash a window and grip the window frame Indirect attack - โ˜‘๏ธ water is pumped onto materials above or near the fire so the splash rains onto the fire Initial Attack - โ˜‘๏ธ First point of attack on a fire where hose lines or fuel separation are used to prevent further extension of the fire. Interior Attack - โ˜‘๏ธ The assignment of a team of fire fighters to enter a structure and attempt fire suppression. Irons/Crossed Irons/Married Irons - โ˜‘๏ธ flathead axe mated with the Halligan Bar Mutual Aid - โ˜‘๏ธ Reciprocal assistance from one fire and emergency services agency to another during an emergency, based upon a prearranged agreement; generally made upon the request of the receiving agency. Offensive Attack - โ˜‘๏ธ fighting the fire at the seat of the fire as opposed to being pumped in the general direction from a safe distance Overhaul - โ˜‘๏ธ late stage in firefighting where the burned area is checked for hot spots that may re-kindle the fire
