The bhabha atomic research centre (barc) and atomic energy regulatory board (aerb) invite online applications for stipendiary trainees in various disciplines including mechanical, electrical, metallurgy, chemical, civil, computer science, physics, and others. The recruitment process includes a preliminary test, skills test, and merit list preparation. Selected candidates will undergo training at mumbai and will be governed by the national pension system. A bond will be executed by the candidates to complete the training and serve barc/aerb for a period of 3 years after absorption.

I) Candidates with 60% marks in BSc with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as subjects with equal

weightage will also be considered. However, they should clearly indicate their choice (Chemistry or

Physics) in their application form. (Applicable for post no.1.8 (Chemistry) and 1.9 (Physics).

II) Mathematics at HSC (10+2) level is essential for the post 1.8 (Chemistry) and 1.9 (Physics).

III) Age Limit : (as on 20.08.2018)

Note : Only Date of birth indicated in school leaving certificate or equivalent certificate will be accepted. No subsequent

request for change shall be granted.

Upper age limit prescribed above is relaxable as under :

1. Upto a maximum of five years for SC/ST candidates & three years for OBC candidates.

2. Upto 5 years shall be admissible to all persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in Kashmir Division

of the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 provided that the

relaxation in the upper age limit for appearing at any examination shall be subject to the maximum

number of chances permissible under the relevant rules.

3. For Physically Challenged candidates, upto Ten years for UR category, thirteen years for OBC

category and fifteen years for SC/ST category.

Persons with Disability in the category of One Leg affected (OL) can apply for the Post

No. 1.6 (Computer Science).

[ Note : Physical deformity should not be less than 40%].

Persons with Disability in the category of HH [Hearing impaired (Partially deaf)] can apply for

the Post No. 2.2 (Laboratory).

[ Note : “Hearing Impairment” means loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear in the

conversational range of frequencies.

4. Relaxation in the Upper age limit of 5 years shall be admissible to children/family members of those

who died in the 1984 Riots.

5. Age relaxation is not applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against Un-reserved(UR) posts.

VII) Selection Method

Category-I: Written Examination of one hour duration will be conducted and will comprise of 40

objective (multiple) type questions. The syllabus for the said examination will be based on subjects at

Diploma/B.Sc. level as the case may be. Those candidates qualifying in the written examination shall be

short-listed for interview to be held on the following day. ‘3’ marks for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark

will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Final selection and ranking will be on the basis of performance of the candidate in interview and no weightage will be given for marks scored in the written examination. The decision of this Research Centre in this regard is final.

XII) NATURE OF DUTIES :

The candidates selected against BARC posts are likely to be posted at BARC, Mumbai and its Constituent Units. The candidates selected against AERB posts are likely to be posted at the AERB Regional Regulatory Centres at Chennai/Kolkata or Safety Research Institute, Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu. CATEGORY-I Post No. Discipline^ Nature of duties

1.1 Mechanical

For BARC post: To assist in designing/ installation/ commissioning/ testing/ data analysis/ inspection of plant/ chemical process plant and equipment, oversee preparation of drawings/ fabrication/ commissioning, to work in CNC machines. Application of AutoCAD, supervision, operation and maintenance of plant, lab operations and related site activities of mechanical utility system in round-the-clock/ General Shift.

1.2 Electrical

For BARC post: To assist in engineering design, installations and commissioning of electrical equipments, testing, execution of electrical jobs like HT/LT panels, their inspection and maintenance. Work also involves operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities of electrical utility in round-the-clock/General shift. For AERB post: Oversee design, installation, commissioning, testing and operation of Electrical systems/ equipment, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes

1.3 Metallurgy

For BARC post: Material processing Laboratories and Plants, fabrication, Plant Operations and related site activities in round-the-clock/ General Shift.

1.4 Chemical

For BARC post: To participate in design/ procurement and inspection of chemical equipments; to participate in and supervise erection/testing/ commissioning/ operation/ data logging/trouble shooting/ maintenance jobs in areas pertaining to chemical process equipment/machinery/plants; Operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities in round- the-clock shift/General Shift. For AERB post: Regulation of erection/ testing/ commissioning/ operation/data logging/trouble shooting jobs in areas pertaining to chemical process plants/ machinery/ equipment, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes

1.5 Civil

For AERB post: Civil engineering safety assessment of nuclear facilities, participation in regulatory inspections in the field of civil engineering and AERB site observer programmes.

Computer Science

For AERB post: Computer operation; Networking, Software development; Website maintenance; Software maintenance and generation of MIS reports; Preparation of progress reports using MS Office software packages, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

Electronics & Instrumentation

For BARC post: To assist in designing/commissioning/ testing/inspection of electronic equipment/instruments in process plants and technical laboratories. The duties will also involve operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities in round-the-clock/ General Shift. For AERB post: Regulation in variety of Electronic instruments/circuits; PCBs and miniature electronic components; review of design / development and operation of electronic systems like PLC, PCB and instruments, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

1.8 Chemistry

For BARC post: Radiopharmaceutical programme, R&D on new radio pharmaceuticals, to assist in the processing of radiochemical from irradiated targets, Radiochemical analysis of different samples, environmental matrices, conducting experiment related to chemical engineering activities including process development and quality management etc, Qualitative/quantitative chemical analysis by physical/volumetric/gravimetric/instrumental methods; Operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities in round- the-clock shift/General Shift For AERB post: Regulation of nuclear and radiation facilities, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

1.9 Physics

For AERB post: Regulation of nuclear and radiation facilities, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

2.1 Plant Operator For BARC post:^ Operation of Process Plants/ Radiological Plant/ Research Reactor.

2.2 Laboratory

For BARC post: Cleaning of Laboratory wares and maintaining the labs, preparation of reagent mixtures, buffer solutions, measurement of pH, EC, Alkalinity in water samples and processing of materials in radiological lab.

2.3 A/C Mechanic For BARC post:^ Operation and Maintenance of Air Conditioning System.

2.4 Fitter For BARC post:^ Operation, Fabrication and Maintenance of Systems.

2.5 Welder For BARC post:^ Gas Cutting and Welding Works.

2.6 Machinist For BARC post:^ Operation of Milling, Drilling, Lathe and Shaping Machine.

2.7 Electrician

For BARC post: Erection, Operation and Maintenance of Electrical Equipments and Auxiliaries in Sub-station and other Installations. For AERB post: Operation, maintenance and regulation of electrical equipment, assisting in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

Electronics & Instrumentation

For BARC post: Operation maintenance of Electronic equipments/instruments in process plants and support during Installation and Commissioning. For AERB post: Operation, maintenance and regulation of Electronic circuits/ components, assisting in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

2.9 Mechanical

For AERB post: Operation, maintenance and regulation of mechanical equipment, assisting in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes. NOTE:- DUTIES WILL INVOLVE WORKING IN ROUND-THE-CLOCK /GENERAL SHIFT

XIII) HOW TO APPLY :

1. Applications will be accepted Online ONLY.

2. The facility of online application will be open from 28.07.2018 to 20.08..

advised to read instructions given on home page of our website by clicking the option “ How to apply ”.

4. Only one application is acceptable for one post. If a candidate wishes to apply for more than one post,

application and fees should be submitted separately for each post.

5. Candidates are advised to submit the ONLINE application well in advance without waiting for the Closing

date(20.08.2018)

XIV) APPLICATION FEE : Mode of payment of the Application Fee is through Online.

For the posts of Category-I - **150/-** Fee is exempted for candidates belonging to SC/ST, PWD and Women category. For the posts of Category-II - 100/- Fee is exempted for candidates belonging to SC/ST, PWD, Ex-serviceman and Women category.

  • The Application number generated after the submission of the application is required to make the online payment of

the application fee and hence submission of application is mandatory before the online payment of application fees. However, fee NOT paid will be treated as incomplete application and hence will be rejected.

  • For payment of fee, candidates should click on the ‘Make Payment’ option under the ‘My Account’ menu. The

Application number generated while submission of application can be selected from the Drop-down box and on clicking the ‘submit’ button candidates can go to the next pages for making the online payment.

• Detailed guidelines for payment of application fee is available under the menu “How to ApplyPayment of fees”.

  • Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances and cannot be held in reserve for any other recruitment.
  • Application fee should be paid on or before the last date of receipt of online applications.

XVI) COPIES OF CERTIFICATES TO BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF SCREENING TEST /WRITTEN TEST/

SKILL TEST / INTERVIEW.

  1. Educational qualifications, experience (as applicable) and technical qualifications (supported by appropriate mark sheets* indicating the subjects offered at the examinations). (* Semester/Year wise mark sheets and consolidated mark sheet )
  2. Date of birth / Proof of age.
  3. SC/ST category (certificate should have been issued by the authorised authority in the prescribed format given at Annexure–1* .The community should have been included in the Presidential orders in relation to the concerned state).
  4. OBC candidate’s caste certificate should be issued by an authorised authority in the prescribed format with non-creamy layer certificate and the caste/community should have been included in the Central lists of Other Backward Caste. The crucial date for determining the OBC non-creamy layer certificate will be the closing date of on-line application (20/08/2018). The OBC candidates should also enclose self declaration of non-creamy layer status in the format as given in Annexure– 2.* OBC for the purpose of AGE RELAXATION AND RESERVATION will mean “persons of OBC categories not belonging to the Creamy Layer” as defined in Government of India, Department of Personnel & Training OM No.36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 08.09.93 and modified vide Government of India, Department of Personnel & Training OM No.36033/3/2004-Estt.(Res) dated 09/3/2004, OM No. 36033/3/2004 –Estt.(Res.) dated 14/10/2008, OM No. 36033/1/2013-Estt (Res.) dated 27/05/2013 and latest modification vide Government of India, Department of Personnel and Training OM No. 36033/1/2013-Estt (Res.) dated 13/09/2017(As per the format given in Annexure-3* ).
  5. Disability Certificate from the appropriate authority regarding physical disability [as per the format given at Annexure-4 * (applicable to persons with disability)]. 1. According to the persons with disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Rules, 1996 notified on 31/12/1996 by the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) and (2) of Section 73 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 (1 of 1996)], a disability certificate shall be issued by a Medical Board duly constituted by the Central or a State Government. The Central/State Government may constitute a Medical Board consisting of at least three members, out of which, at least, one member shall be a Specialist from the relevant field. 2. The certificate would be valid for a period of 5 years for those whose disability is temporary. The Medical Board shall indicate the period of validity of the certificate where there are chances of variation in the degree of disability. For those who acquired permanent disability, the validity can be shown as permanent. On representation by the applicant, the Medical Board may review its decision having regard to all the facts and circumstances of the case and pass such orders in the matter as it thinks fit. 3. Those SC/ST/OBC persons with disabilities selected on their own merit without relaxed standards along with other candidates will be considered against unreserved vacancies provided the post is identified for persons with disability of relevant category (as applicable).
  6. Proof of the effect that they have been affected by 1984 riots (if claiming age relaxation).
  7. Claim regarding domiciled in Kashmir Division from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 (if claiming age relaxation for Kashmir Division). Certificate of proof of residence- any person intending to avail of this relaxation of age limit admissible under rule-3 shall submit a certificate from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division within whose jurisdiction he had ordinarily resided ; or any other authority designated in this behalf by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to the effect that he had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st^ day of January, 1980 to the 31st^ day of December, 1989.
