Topic 8 DQ 1 Description: Name two elements in a comprehensive communication plan and explain each.
Answer: Hello Professor Lukashin & Class, Comprehensive communication plans involve several key elements in order for them to be successfully utilized. Some of these key elements include things such as target audience, context, outcomes, key messages, appropriate medium, and preferred messengers. Target audiences become a very essential element within a comprehensive communication plan because if one does not understand who they are communicating to, it may be difficult to effectively communicate with them. Furthermore, while communication should be consistent in any given situation from target audience to target audience, there may be a difference in the way you want to relay the information dependent upon who the target audience is (Bovee & Thill, 2020). For example, there may be certain personal information that you only want to share with certain internal audiences within an organization. This means that your communication plan may slightly vary from those internal individuals to external stakeholders (or internal individuals not privy to said confidential information). The second element of a comprehensive communication plan that I will be discussing is the appropriate medium. Essentially, this element determines which method an organization chooses to communicate the information within a comprehensive communication plan (Bovee & Thill, 2020). For example, if the information is highly confidential then only secured electronic devices/sources may be used and in-person discussions may be preferred. However, if the communication plan involves getting information to a vast number of people across a large geographical area, then utilizing video conferencing or email might be the preferred medium to deliver the message. Overall, each element within a comprehensive communication plan adds its own value so it is important to review each element on an individual basis when developing communication plans.
