School: Esoft Metro Campus

Intended research start date: 15 st^ of June 2020

Intended research end date: 10 th^ of July 2020

Section 2: Project Summary

Please select all research methods that you plan to use as part of your project:

How will participants be recruited (identified and approached)?

The participants are chosen among the students from the Esoft Metro Campus Colombo- 04. The participants

of the research are selected from the Higher National Diploma in Information Technology at Esoft Metro

Campus, using the stratified sampling method to identify the target respondents. 20 students are put into

two groups and then random sampling is used to select the target population, randomly through each group.

Thereby, a selected number of respondents will be chosen from each group as respondents. In addition, the

research is based on a target population of 20 participants; therefore, the research will be conducted with 15

respondents as the sample population size, which is extracted as per the Morgan Table. The participants will

be approached with a letter to inform them of the purpose of the survey and request them to participate in

the study.

Describe the processes you will use to inform participants about what you are doing:

The consent of the participants will be obtained by providing a written letter of request to the selected

students in the diploma, whereby the respondents in each department will be informed prior about the survey

to be conducted. The letter will brief the participants of the purpose of the research and will ensure

confidentiality of the data collected and provide assurance that the data will only be used for academic

purposes, and not be shared with third parties. The letter will also state the participant has all the rights to

withdraw from the research survey, if they wish to do so.
