Children generally complain of dirty washrooms but if every user follows the Restroom Etiquette, the washrooms shall be clean for everybody and all the time.  Public washrooms or the school washrooms are not always clean but the users have to take care of it.  It is essential to keep the washroom clean and use it hygienically to avoid transmission of germs and infection.  It is good manners to first knock to be sure that the

PLANT TREES AND SAVE YOUR PLANET

Please encourage your child to plant and nurture small trees, plants in your back-yard or where ever you find it appropriate for them.  Children, planting trees is a simple yet powerful way to save our planet.  Trees are the lungs of our Mother Earth.  Plant a native species and plant in your back yard.  Join local tree-planting events.  Share the significance of trees on social media and with friends and family.  Go digital and minimize the use of paper to save trees.  Create a mini garden at home and give it regular care.

Parents are requested to impress upon the minds of their children that Games are not just about winning matches. STAY HYDRATED – Be it summers , Be it winters Children at home should be reminded to drink enough water whether they are thirsty or not.  Staying hydrated is essential for healthy body function.  It supports everything from mental performance to physical health. It prevents serious complications of kidney, heat stroke and many other ailments.  Water aids digestion.  Hydration maximizes brain performance improving memory  It supports weight management.  Lubricates the joints, cushions the sensitive tissues, and reduces chances of headaches, cramps and kidney issues. So, a) Aim to drink minimum 6-8 tumblers of water daily. b) Replace sugary drinks with water for a healthy body and mind. c) Set reminders to prompt regular intake of water.

TELEPHONE ETIQUETTE – LEAVES A GOOD IMPRESSION

Dear parents, please give them proper exercise of calling and answering phone calls for you with full courtesy and etiquette.  Learning and teaching “Phone Etiquette” is a valuable life skill.  Practise common scenarios like – answering a call, taking a message or making a call to enquire about something.  Demonstrate how to be polite over the phone, how to be clear and concise.  Highlight differences in formal and informal conversation.  Pair children and let them practise calling and responding to each other.  Please do offer constructive feedback on their performance. Please remind them to a) wish time b) introduce (your name) c) be clear and loud. d) be attentive e) avoid eating or trying when on a call f) take the message carefully and convey it promptly. g) say – ‘thank you’. h) hang up politely.

EVERYDAY TABLE MANNERS

Parent are humbly requested to give practice to the young children with complete Table Manners daily because they soon have to enter a new formal and professional world where they should be appreciated for their manners.  Everyday table manners promote respect and comfort during meals. They lead to smoother social interactions  Place your napkin on your lap. Use it to dab your mouth and not to wipe. When finished, set it loosely to the left of your plate.  While eating rest your spoon, fork or knife on your plate and not on the table cloth or mat.  Sit upright without resting your elbows on the table.  Chew with your mouth closed and avoid slurping.

 Pass dishes to the right and ask others to pass instead of stretching and reaching across.  Silence your phone during the meal.  Thank those serving food each time.  When you are done, signal by placing your fork and knife /spoon together at the 6 o clock position on your plate.

RESPONSIBLE TOURIST

Most of you must have gone on a trip with children. You must have noticed some thing or the other which needs to be explained to children after the trip. Please explain it to them that--  The whole purpose of vacation is to relax and enjoy.  With a few adjustments and by following a few simple rules you can enjoy the trip to its fullest.  Do not litter the places which you visit.  Dress appropriately for the environment.  Respect others beliefs.  Seek permission before you click a picture.  Play music at a level that does not disturb other tourists.  In a civilized society it is our responsibility to preserve our cultural assets, heritage and our environment. So, please keep all this in mind when you are on a vacation.

Importance of family cannot be explained in words. Rather examples are to be set as different role-models  Family is very-very important. It provides emotional support, protection , identity and helps shape personal and social development  It is the family that first encourages you and praise you for your achievements and comforts you during hardships. The confidence that your family shows in you reduces your stress.  Families teach morals, values and beliefs.  Family serves as the first school of the child.  It’s the family that teaches you how to strengthen your relationships and bonds.  Share highs and lows of the day with your family.  Spend quality time with them.  Listen to other members of the family with interest.  Maintain regular discussion to sort misunderstandings  Show that you love them through sweet gestures and

 Compassionate children can never hurt anybody, they cannot disrespect anyone and they are ever ready to help. So, think about being kind, tolerant, empathetic, and sympathetic and act like a true soft, living, honest human being.

CHOOSE WORDS WISELY

Please keep reminding them-  Think before you speak  Think twice before you speak because words have power, they can inspire, build trust and create understanding.  But at the same time if words are not chosen wisely, they may lead to confusion, misunderstanding and conflict.  Clear and precise words contribute to better understanding.  If the words are not chosen wisely they may hurt somebody’s feelings. So, please be careful and keep your tone and words both moderate so as to maintain balance in effective conversation.

THEATRE MANNERS-

Parents may please remind children of the below given tips before leaving for the theatre show. Children should be explained that the code of conduct in the theatre is different from that at home on the couch watching a video. There are some rules which should be practiced-

  • Arrive at the theatre before the starting of the movie because the late comers disturb other audience.
  • Visit the washroom before the movie begins. You should not leave your seat before intermission.
  • If needed, buy snacks before entering the screening area.
  • Keep the phones on silent mode.
  • Maintain silence while watching the movie.
  • Do not pass comments or reveal the end.
  • Sit on the assigned seat and do not kick the front seat or lean on the sides or back.
  • Do not block others’ view. If you have to leave in

between, bend and then move silently without disturbing the other audience.

  • Do not laugh aloud, whistle or scream.
  • At the end of the movie, please carry the trash with you to the bin outside.

IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL CARE

Dear parents, please explain it to children that their mouth is the opening to the whole body, so dental care is essential for complete health. Taking care of your teeth is super important and here’s why-.  Good dental care means a bright, confident smile.  Cavities and gum issues can be avoided. They are very painful.  Your mouth is the opening of the whole body, so dental health impacts the whole body.  Dental care is an essential part of healthy habits. So- i) Brush twice a day with fluoride tooth paste. ii) Floss daily to remove food particles. iii) Limit sugary drinks and snacks. iv) Visit your dentist regularly. v) Do not ignore tooth pain!
