Academic year 2021-
Due Date This assignment is due by the end of module 4. Purpose Creating a career profile will allow you to gain the career clarity you need to be able to communicate your skills to employers. This will be done through your resume, branding, and interviewing as you search for work. Explanation of tasks During the first four modules of this course, you were given a series of activities to complete. Review your work prior to uploading your completed career profile as a single word document to the Assignment Submission Folder. Prior to completing the tasks, be sure to review the attached rubrics. Student Name: Dharti Patel Student Number: 8807575 List of activities: Module 1: Elevator Pitch Discussion Post Ensure you have uploaded your elevator pitch and provide feedback to one of your peers. Module 2: Reflection questions In the first module, we reviewed Franklin’s (2014) definition of career: “The full expression of who you are and how you want to be in the world. And it keeps expanding as it naturally goes through cycles of stability and change” (p.456). Now that you’ve had a chance to consider this definition of career, it’s time for you to put some thoughts into your definition of Career and Career Management.
My professional life refers to my growth and actions during the course of my working years, especially as they relate to my profession. It lists the numerous positions I have held and will hold, as well as titles and projects completed throughout my career. A career is anything that has to do with my professional development, such as work decisions, professions I have worked in, and advancements I have made throughout my life.
Career management is the process of allocating resources throughout my life in order to reach long-
term job objectives. It's a never-ending process that helps me to adapt to our fast-paced company's changing needs. The career management method incorporates self-awareness, career planning/exploration, lifelong learning, and networking, which are all significant components of life. Lifestyle, attitude, transferable abilities, and networking are all important to me as I manage my career over time. Lifestyle: One of the most important factors to contemplate is the character of one's personality and the level of job satisfaction. Extroverted people like engaging with others and find fulfilment in jobs that require a lot of social interaction. for eg. they will excel in sales, medicine, healthcare, and customer service, whereas introverts excel in jobs where they don't have to deal with others and are left with their own devices, such as system administrators or researchers. Personality: It's crucial to strike a balance between what's required and what's desired. Another thing to think about is the location. Some people dislike crowds and will avoid working in a city with a long commute, while others who appreciate the quick pace of city life may not want to work in a position that needs remote work. Transferrable Skills: By connecting a possible career to a current skill set, a greater alignment of interests and experience can be established. Instead of traveling every day to work all over the city/suburbs, a technician may enroll in a degree program and work in an office on projects. The former technician will profit in their new work not just because of their new talents, but also because of their industrial experience. Networking: Career networking occurs when someone uses personal, professional, academic, or family contacts to help them find work, achieve career objectives, or learn more about their field or another field in which they'd like to work. We could use networking to find out about employment openings or gain access to a company we'd like to work for. Module 3: Strengths, Assets, Personal Qualities, STAR Stories, STAR statements
