Conducting a Feasibility Study for Software Development Projects, Study Guides, Projects, Research of Social Intelligence

An exercise scenario for students to understand the importance of conducting a feasibility study in the software development life cycle (sdlc). The exercise involves two case study scenarios: developing a language learning mobile app and an e-commerce platform. Students are required to evaluate the technical, economic, operational, legal, and schedule feasibility of these projects. The goal is to help students practice the process of assessing the viability of software development projects before committing resources. The key aspects to consider in a feasibility study and requires students to present their findings and recommendations based on the analysis. This exercise is designed to enhance students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in the context of software project management.

Exercise-1: Conducting a Feasibility Study
Objective: To understand the importance of a feasibility study in SDLC and to practice
conducting one.
Scenario-1 Project: Language Learning Mobile App - Your group has been hired by a small software
development company to assess the feasibility of developing a new mobile app for language learning
within 6 months. The company wants to understand whether it's a viable project before committing
resources. Your task is to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate this project.
Scenario 2 Project: Developing an E-commerce Platform - A medium-sized retail company is considering
launching an e-commerce platform to expand its business within 6 months. They have asked your group
to conduct a feasibility study to determine if this project is viable.
Each group need to conduct a feasibility study for the given case study scenario. They should consider
the following aspects:
1. Technical Feasibility: Can the technology required for the app be developed within the given
constraints?
2. Economic Feasibility: Will the project be financially viable? What are the development and
operational costs?
3. Operational Feasibility: Will the app be easy to manage and operate once it's developed? Are
there any operational challenges?
4. Legal and Regulatory Feasibility: Are there any legal or regulatory constraints that need to be
addressed?
5. Schedule Feasibility: Can the project be completed within the desired timeframe?
Each group create a presentation summarizing their findings and recommendations based on the
feasibility study.
