>KINDS OF CONJUNCTIONS COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS and, but, for, or, still, yet, so, otherwise, nor, neither, either, as well as, etc. They join similar grammatical units. For example: e The'oceans' and 'seas' consist of maximum water on earth. (noun with noun) e She 'picked up the kettle' and ‘poured the tea’. . (phrase with phrase) « 'My father played the piano’ and ‘my mother sang a song’. (clause with clause) | | CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTIONS nor, not only... but also, | either. both.....and, though....yet, so....that, hardly....when, or, neither. whether.....0f, no sooner......... than. i * They are used in pairs. | | For example: e Heisneither happy norsad. | . « Sheis not only wise but also patient. « Heranso fast that he won the race. SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS though/although, since, after, till/until, as, because, if, while, when, whether, lest, as if, as soon as, as long as, as though, than etc. They join a subordinate clause to a principal clause.
