tension, compression and shear; axial loads; Torsion of circular shafts.(9L+3T)
Beam Bending: Shear force and bending moment diagrams, Euler-Bernoulli beam,
bending stresses, shearing stress, deflection of beams.(12L+4T)
Buckling of Columns: eccentric loading under various end constraints. (3L+1T) Biaxial
and Triaxial states of stress and strain, Transformations, Principal stresses and strains,
Mohr‘s circle.(9L+3T)
Theories of failure; Design of thin cylinders, shafts and beams; Energy methods.
