You will spend time on placement in different hospital and clinical settings within the Birmingham and Solihull area, as well as learning from our experts at the University. This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and you will be able to apply for Registered Nurse Status on completion. What's covered in the course? The course seamlessly combines theory with practice. The NMC requires that you spend over 80 weeks immersed in practice over your three years and as you might expect from a University based in Birmingham, you will have the advantage of work placements at some of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. Whilst studying Adult Nursing here at Birmingham City University you will explore topics such as:  Physiology in both health and illness  Learn and discuss key government policies and how these impact upon adult nursing  How to research to keep your practice current  Discuss the ethical dilemmas that occur when nursing in the 21st century  Opportunities to explore and discuss care across the spectrum of different nursing settings During your first year, you will learn foundation nursing skills to prepare you for your second and third years, where you will become increasingly more field-specific and specialise in adult nursing. In addition to your practical experience, you will explore important aspects of values, ethics, research, physiology and social policy to ensure that you are a professional adult nurse when graduating. Towards the end of the course, you’ll focus on making the transition from nursing student to Registered Nurse and will be supported by our expert teams every step of the way. Successful completion of the course will make you eligible to apply for professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Where will I study? You will be studying at our brand new £41 million City South Campus, with access to state-of- the-art facilities. 13 Overall Student Workload and Balance of Assessment Overall student workload consists of class contact hours, independent learning and assessment activity, with each credit taken equating to a total study time of around 10 hours.
