Regardless of the financial benefits involved in cutting costs, this process is problematic in
the workplace. While working in the finance department, I was selected in a special task
force involving the human resource manager, a representative from logistics, and operation
department. The team had a mandate of finding creative alternatives that would reduce the
costs at every level of the organization. The organization has had a series of cost reduction
eliminating any form of money wastage at the administrative level. The task at hand would

The fourth challenge was to overcome the time frame set by the executive and table a full report. Lastly, the team faced the challenge of dealing with rapid changes that occurred as retaliation by departments to the cost and budget analysis. I identified an innovative strategy that would ensure employee involvement in the decision-making process and collecting the necessary data. The challenges that the team faced revolved around resistance and lack of a cost reduction mindset from the involved departments. I proposed that the team should create a platform where all employees can provide accurate data and ideas. The team made some adjustments and concurred on creating a page on the organization intranet for the employees to log in and leave their comments, feedback on questionnaires and provide data on expenses. The team was able to bring together all the stakeholders in the organization and collect data on cost and budget without any resistance. I was a huge contributor to the success of the project by coming with an innovative approach that would cut across the identified obstacles. The new platform was essential in collecting the ideas from the employees and allow the team to asses and choose viable suggestions. Similarly, the team could reach the employees over the platform and communicate on the decisions made to reduce costs. This concept had success in addressing the problem at hand by eliminating possible hindrances affecting interdepartmental collaborations. However, there is a room for improvement for this approach with accuracy being a major concern. The platform should also allow for the inclusion of external stakeholders who are affected by the cost reduction strategies.
