(9 Marks) (b) State the insulation colours you would expect to find in a 4 core power cable. In what way would the above colours conflict with the older, British, colour system? (4 Marks) (c) What difference would you find in a STA cable compared to an SWA one? (4 Marks) Q2. (a) With regard to cables with enhanced fire performance, explain what is meant by: (i) Fire retardance (ii) Fire Resistance (iii) L.S.O.H (9 Marks) (b) Describe a FP200, or similar, cable. Outline its performance in a fire situation. (8 Marks) Q3. (a) Describe an economical and safe system by which power may be distributed to each floor of a high rise building. (9 Marks) (b) Describe (i) a skirting trunking (ii) a dado trunking Why are such trunkings compartmented? (8 Marks) Q4. (a) Explain why copper is the first choice conductor material. (7 Marks) (b) Under what conditions would you consider aluminium as a conductor material. (5 Marks) (c) Show two methods by which a steel conduit may be terminated into an enclosure with a knock-out entry. (5 Marks) Q5. (a) It is required to measure the resistance of the protective conductor (PE) of a twin + earth cable. Explain how such a test may be carried out. (8 Marks) (b) Select and describe cable management systems suitable for each of the following installation requirements: (i) a large number of small armoured cables (ii) a number of category 5 (IT/communication) cables (iii) cables in a dusty/dirty environment.
