TERM 1
Accuracy
DEFINITION 1
Lack of bias in an estimate such that if enough units were
measured, the estimate would equal the true parameter of
interest.
TERM 2
Block
DEFINITION 2
A subset of experimental units (EUs) grouped together so
that the anticipated variability in response of the EUs within a
block is smaller than the anticipated variability between
blocks.EU's that are similar to each other.
TERM 3
Complete Block
DEFINITION 3
All treatments are represented in each block. In contrast, an
incomplete block does not have all treatments represented.
TERM 4
Completely Randomized Design
DEFINITION 4
Treatments are assigned to EUs without any restriction on
randomization.
TERM 5
Cross Classification
DEFINITION 5
Two or more factors such that each level of a factor may be
observed in combination with each le vel of other factors. For
example, in an experiment to evalua te gasoline consumption with
four different cars and three differen t types of gasoline, a cross
classification of both factors (car and g asoline type) would produce
4 x 3 = 12 combinations under invest igation.
