Introduction: The purpose of this lab is to take different 3D shapes and calculate their density. The shapes used in this lab are a rectangular strip and a cylinder. Equipment

  • Rectangular strip
  • Cylinder
  • Micrometer (least count 0.001mm)
  • Digital caliper (least count 0.001mm) Theory The first equation used for this lab is the general formula for density (ρ). Density is the mass (m) of an object divided by its volume (v). ρ=m/v The next equations are needed to calculate the volume of the rectangular strip (Vstrip ) and the cylinder (Vcylinder). For the cylinder, d=diameter. V=LWH V=(π*D^2 *h)/ For the data section of the lab, the equation for calculating the uncertainties of the cylinder and strip is needed. Data
