purpose of education, which is to produce an individual with a sound of
mind in a sound of body. It also required moral, social and vocational
knowledge and a highly developed vocational skills that would serve to
support in life and offer social service to others. Another thing is the

their education high in quality they must save their country in a position of
leader.

Develop poise, control and outward behavior of excellent manners.
Applying intellectual and moral knowledge in governing practical affairs.

aim of education is not knowledge, but action”. It is true that education is
not only for the knowledge we have, it is useless ( nonsense) but through
our action/if we act with our knowledge then education comes great.
I also learned things about discipline as well as guidance where in science
is a chiefest of value. In all its effects, learning the meaning of things is
better that learning the meaning of words”.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP SUBJECT

2 nd^ SEM SY 2020- ACTIVITY 1: Reflect on the six education philosophical thoughts. Cite in your own words what have you learned. BUDIH, JOBELLA N. BSE 2- FILIPINO PHILOSOPHER 1.) JOHN LOCKE THINGS I LEARNED

  • The things I have learned to this philosopher John Locke is about the purpose of education, which is to produce an individual with a sound of mind in a sound of body. It also required moral, social and vocational knowledge and a highly developed vocational skills that would serve to support in life and offer social service to others. Another thing is the education of every gentlemen out to be the very highest quality and as their education high in quality they must save their country in a position of leader. I also learned something on the proposed of Locke for the education which is about moral training. All Christian must learn to live virtuously. Develop poise, control and outward behavior of excellent manners. Applying intellectual and moral knowledge in governing practical affairs. 2.) HERBERT SPENCER THINGS I LEARNED
  • The things that I’ve learned to HERBERT SPENCER is about the great aim of education is not knowledge, but action”. It is true that education is not only for the knowledge we have, it is useless ( nonsense) but through our action/if we act with our knowledge then education comes great. I also learned things about discipline as well as guidance where in science is a chiefest of value. In all its effects, learning the meaning of things is better that learning the meaning of words”.

Never educate a child to be a gentleman or lady alone but to be a man, a woman. Every cause produces more than one effect. Life is the continuous adjustment of internal relations to external relations. No one can be perfectly free till All are free; no one can be perfectly moral till all are moral; no one can be perfectly happy till all are happy. We too often forget that the only is there a soul of goodness in things evil, but very generally a soul of Truth in things erroneous. Our lives are universally shortened by our ignorance. Be bold, be bold, and everywhere be bold. It is very true/ real that our life is very short, so let’s use life with a good will. Always pay attention to our action that will help to everyone, not to hurt them, not to destroy them but to encourage them because if all of us is happy and free then life is perfectly good( great) but it is only great if God is the center of our life. 3.) JOHN DEWEY THINGS IS LEARNED

- About the believed of this philosopher that human beings learn through a “hands-on approach. This means that students must interact with their environment in order to adapt and learn. Children should be allowed to explore their environments. I also learned about the believed in interdisciplinary curriculum that focuses on connecting multiple subjects, where students are allowed to freely move in and out of classrooms as they pursue their interest and construct their own paths for acquiring and applying knowledge. Dewey's view caught my attention about teacher which is teacher should observe the interest of the students, observe the directions they naturally take, and then serve as someone who helps develop problem solving skills. I agree with Dewey that human beings learn through a hands on approach. This places Dewey in the educational philosopher of pragmatism. Pragmatist beloved that reality must be experienced. 4.) GEORGE COUNTS THINGS I LEARNED - I learned that all teachers and teacher educator must challenge their selves to use school as a means for critiquing and transforming the social order. I also learned about his conviction that school could be the lever of radical social change. Yes, because school is the one great institution that makes students and educator enhance their social skills. Also I appreciate counts because he wanted educators to engage in positive task of

ACTIVITY 2: ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION BRIEFLY

GERALDINE JOY DUMAHIN

BSE 2-FILIPINO

1.) Why do we have to bother the educational goals of the past which is past and so we can no longer undo/why do we study the history of education. How does it connect those past educational goals to present education goals. Give at least two reasons.

  • If we think about the past educational goals or the history of education it is very inspiring because it is simple, happy and enjoyable. But for today’s educational goal, it is also happy and enjoyable but the difference is that today’s education is a little bit of complicated. If we learn carefully the history of the past educational goals or the history of the past education it were focus on vocational training and lesser academics. The school’s arise from the nature and character of society itself and what society considers important is what school teach. Another thing, the school focused on religious formation to help them live the Christian faith. Filipinos students educated to become good citizen of the Democratic country and taught them love of labor. Educational system also on the past was devoted on the foster love of country, develop moral character self-discipline, and scientific, technological, and vocation efficiency. For today’s educational goals, we have to bother educational goals on the past for we can adopt some of the manners, values, strategies and educational system (teaching). In this case we can use them also to students to become good and to prepare them as a good citizen in the future. If we compare today’s educational system and on the past, it is more on accademic today and less vocational training. The school today did not focus on religious formation because this activity is separated today. The educational system today is formal unlike on the last. Today teacher are the one who teaches students longer an hour that parents. On past history, the educational system is informal. Parents and educator are the same but more on parents who teaches their children.

ACTIVITY 3: Reflection ( Please download or open the movie on “The little prince” and watch it. What does the quote mean “ words are a source of misunderstanding”. Write down your personal message by reflecting on this quote related to the movie you have watched. GERALDINE JOY P. DUMAHIN BSE 2-FILIPINO

  • Words are important to everyone’s/everybody’s life. We use words to communicate with our friends, and family. We use words to do our work( business). We use words to put songs and make a loving. We use words to discipline our fellow. We use words to convince other. We use words to share words of God. Words are a huge of part of our daily life. It’s hard to imagine our world (environment) without words. For us, humans, words our very important because this is the means of exchanging information like for example to a student and a teacher. However due to the different of languages in this world and discipline (respect) confusion or misunderstanding happens. When we today realize that there are more effective means of communication, if we know to respect to the one who I talking and to each and everyone then things will go better. In the story of the little prince where this quote is found, we will observed that the words are not emphasized. The character “little prince” is define as a talkative character, where in he asked and asked silly question to the e man who stock in the other planet. For that scene the two of them have misunderstanding in a short time, because the little prince words are silly just the man said specially that the man is very busy repairing his plane to get back on his planet. In the scene that the little prince and the fox are exchanging words, there is no misunderstanding because each of them listen to one another. If we get to our real life, many people do not care about their words. They don’t care if they hurting others, if they make others mad at them and led to misunderstanding. Always bear heart, in our mind that the words comes from our mouth is like a blade. If we do not pay attention, if we

didn’t care for it then surely everything leads to misunderstanding. Let put in our mind that our words our to help others to encourage not to hurt. ACTIVITY 4: ANSWER THE QUESTIONS BELOW USING TWO-THREE SENTENCES ONLY TO EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER GERALDINE JOY P. DUMAHIN 1.) Explain how schools can help counteract of negative traits or characters.

- Schools need to recognize and accept the weaknesses of Filipino character first, schools need to acknowledge that there is indeed a weakness in the character. Schools need to get guidance from an institution for seminars and workshops. Schools should not tolerate it. They need to change the stigma that the weaknesses of Filipino students that these traits can be improved. 2.) When does a strength become a weakness?

  • Strength become weakness when a leader uses their abilities reactively, instead of as a source of creativity to address the problem. Another is , it was because people were misusing their greatest strength. But great things can happen if we have the chance to build our own strength.
