Providing education on diabetes to a student in NTDT 250 was a positive experience overall. I enjoyed
conducting diabetes research and curating visuals to teach a student the scientific and diagnostic aspects
of diabetes. As a counselor, I felt I did a good job covering the main points of the session such as defining
hypoglycemia, type 1 versus type 2 diabetes, carbohydrates, and diagnostic criteria. I made an attempt to
ask some rapport building questions before getting into the content. In terms of tone of voice, I could have
definitely had a more enthusiastic tone while presenting this nutrition education session as well as more
seamless transitions from one topic to the next. Word flow is not usually my strong suit during
discussions, therefore completing this session on zoom did make it slightly easier due to time and
environment flexibility. Unfortunately, technical difficulties through zoom did throw me off a bit, so I
would better prepare for how to smoothly handle these issues in the future.
