Project Description

I will be implementing my project for my high school's Tech-Ed department in Jefferson Township, Oak Ridge, New Jersey. As a member of the 2020-introduced STEM Academy, I aim to enhance awareness of the program and other classes by renovating an old showcase and adding murals. I plan on carrying out my project towards the end of May and finished it by the end of June.

โ— I will be redesigning the showcase in the hallway to feature student projects, awards, college acceptance certificates, etc. I will be adding the following: โ— Adding adjustable height shelves with shelf tracks โ— Incorporating a cork board โ— Installing new lights โ— Redoing the exterior framing with new wood trim โ— Potentially repainting the showcase walls

โ— Building three standalone shelves on wheels for the engineering classroom to provide additional storage under existing lab benches. โ— Redoing the mural next to the engineering/robotics classroom with a graphically designed vinyl sticker showcasing the STEM Academy logo and class elements.

How will this project help

the beneficiary?

  • Reorganization of the engineering room will make the classroom look more inviting and fun.
  • Cleaning up the classroom will help the addition of murals stand out.

Boosting STEM Academy

Awareness:

  • The project aims to raise awareness of the STEM Academy, ensuring its sustainability for future students.
  • The showcase will highlight program offerings, attracting incoming high school students to the STEM field.

Enhancing Classroom Classroom Cleaning: Organization and Safety:

  • Shelving units will provide a dedicated space for students to store projects, improving classroom organization.
  • This not only ensures safety by eliminating project clutter but also maximizes available classroom space.

Giving Leadership

  • I will need around 10 people to help me during the project and I plan on recruiting people from my unit and friends.
  • I believe that the most difficult part about leading them will be making sure that they

are assembling the shelves properly. The other difficult part may be making sure everyone is paying attention when I am giving directions or announcements.

  • I am confident that it will not be very difficult as everyone in my unit are experienced scouts and have worked on eagle projects in the past which will hopefully make the process more efficient.
