recently released SQL Server 2005 (formerly code-named Yukon). In this substantial upgrade, they've packed the new database engine full of features.

We believe this will be a widely used system in the future and will help to bridge the gap between the police department and the people.

We can see that technology has touched many spheres of our lives in India. There is technology in business, in education, in socializing and maintaining human relations, in purchasing, in agriculture, in banking, communication, and almost every part of our lives. This intrusion of technology has aided the work in all these sections, and has proved beneficial, and time and effort saving. The only major part of our society that still remains majorly devoid of this luxury is the Indian Police Department. The Indian Police Department has ever since remained manually driven for most of its routine chores. The officials have been adopting the basic fundamental methods of carrying out the proceedings with the traditional “pen and paper” method being highly prevalent. These traditional practices were comfortable in earlier days, when population was far less, and the crime rates were also comparably minimal. But in today’s India, when the evil elements of the society are in a boom and so many cases being registered every day, it has become a very tedious task to manage the case and all its related documents, manually. Digitization in Police department is the need of the hour. The traditional method of visiting a police station for registering a police complaint and getting updates needs to be replaced with an online process. Hence an E- police system is being developed which will collect complainant’s data through a mobile application, sends the information over to the Police department on their web portal, and in this way the entire interaction occurs online, with information exchanges over the application and the web portal.

Introduction

1.1 Background:

The crime rate is increasing at an alarming rate and there are no existing technical systems in our country for the purpose of registering a case and managing the activities related to the FIR. We intend to create a project which will help bridge the gap between the police department and the common man. ‘E-cops ’ project will have an website from where the users can file FIR against the offender under the various sections. The main site will be maintained by the admin (from the police) who will then notify the user if the FIR has been registered and the necessary action has been taken .There will be a robust authentication process so that only the genuine citizens can register a case, other necessary documents. W .The users will be notified if the police have filed the FIR. This project is cop friendly too. The end site will have a database of all the FIR complaints that are logged by end users.

disadvantageous factors include, Fear of getting harmed from people against whom FIR is filed, Lodging FIR against.

highly reputed person is sometimes difficult task. By allowing citizens to lodge their complaints directly, this system circumvents police officers who are often reluctant to register FIRs, particularly in kidnapping and ransom cases. Potentially, this could be an effective tool in combating the endemic corruption and pressure at the thana level. We have proposed to develop a system which provides an easily accessible android mobile application which forms the front end and a web portal for the police department. The complaints would be registered over the application. The complainant would be filling up the FIR form, he would be providing the proofs and details related to the complainant on the application. The user can upload images, audio files, and video files as records. These details would then be received by the police officials on the web portal. They will verify the details of the complainant and carry out further proceedings of the case. The police officer will be posting the advancements made in the case into the account of the complainant through the portal. The user will receive updates in the form of notifications on his android phone. Thus the entire process would be carried out online, without much manual intervention.

PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION

2.1 ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The objectives of this work are free access of the citizens for their queries and complaints, establishing database for citizens and police personnel. The normal public in India are afraid to give an complaint in police station because they are filled with a false fear about the police department. An online complaint registering system will solve the fears of public and will also help the police department in catching criminals. An online solution is very useful as the solution is inherently distributive.

A First Information Report is a document prepared by Police organization

  • Online FIR is to develop an online crime Reporting and management system which is easily accessible to the public, the police Department and the administrative department.

  • An FIR is an important document because it set the process of criminal justice in motion. It is only after the FIR is Registered in the Police station that the police take up investigation of the case.

this facility is available in the state but other states are in the process of launching the same. n every police station, the time devoted to process the registering of an FIR for each case takes up a lot of time and energy of the staff present, as each complainant is usually accompanied by several persons, many of whom are agitated and at times, violent. With most police stations being understaffed and overburdened with paperwork, basic public response and courtesy get overlooked, leading to people complaining of police rudeness and apathy. With several staff involved in the process of filing FIRs and in handling the large number of people present at the police station, basic policing tends to suffer. With a large percentage of FIRs now being filed online, the police staff has been freed of public pressure which is in turn leading to better FIR follow up and quicker response to complaints filed 2.3 LIMITATIONS OF PRESENT

First, the cons

  • Most find it difficult to lie face to face with the police, compared to the computer screen in front of you.
  • Anyone can use the online facility to tarnish the image of someone.
  • The poor wishing to avail the facility will have little or no access to the Internet.
  • If people get the freedom of lodging it, then there would be a flood.
  • (^) 10% of the population is involved in lodging fake cases against political rivals or people from other castes and others.

In the existing system people who want to file a complaint must go to the police station all by

themselves which is time consuming. Police people usually maintain records manually which is again time consuming and it is difficult to manage those records. There can be loss of records and important crimes issued which needs to be solved quickly may get delayed. Major limitations are F 0B 7 Time consumingF 0B 7 Paper work needed F 0B 7 Loss of records F 0B 7Information about criminals and common people are not properly.

everything is getting computerized except for crime management. We can see public who wish to complain go to the police station and file a complaint. Police maintain these complaints and FIRs and several other files manually. This software addresses these problems by letting public complain online and computerized management of these complaints along with maintaining records of FIR, Unidentified Dead bodies, Post Mortem, Patrol, Criminals, Most Wanted Criminals etc. for police. This saves a lot of time of both police and public. This software is mainly developed for e citizens and it is a joint operation of police stations of different regions of Mangalore with the intention of making the city crime free.

System Identification

This phase is used to identify the need for a new system. It is very important step. Everything performed in future depends on this phase.

SYSTEM SCOPE

system can be reduced due to financial and political problems etc.
