Students are required to have this sheet readily available during tutoring sessions and when meeting with the professor for help. Dr. Senapati’s editing symbols. You absolutely must refer to this sheet to understand the feedback I give you on your drafts. You must have this sheet readily available for tutors at the AAC or SSS (Student Support Services) when you go to these places for help. You also must bring this sheet when you come to me for help. WOTC – went over this in class IF – Ignored feedback MILD – Marked in last draft- i.e. ALERTED YOU TO PROBLEM IN LAST DRAFT C/D – citation and documentation error d- diction (word choice) wrong word used org – problem with organization/ arrangement C// – new paragraph needed Errors on the sentence structure level W-wordy IC – absolutely incoherent UC – unclear n/s - makes no sense ss – problem with sentence structure fp – faulty predication (subject part of sentence does not fit with the predicate part of the sentence) // - faulty parallelism frag – sentence fragment/ incomplete sentence – either subject part or predicate part missing fs – fused or run-on sentence c.s – comma splice trans- transition problem tw – transition word missing ts – transition sentence missing ^ - word or phrase needs to be added awk –awkward convoluted sentence Pronoun Errors VP – vague pronoun – pronoun doesn’t have a referent or antecedent P-A – pronoun antecedent reference error – singular noun replaced by plural pronoun or vice versa P case – pronoun case Verb Errors S-V agr – subject –verb agreement error ( singular subjects use singular verbs – The boy (one boy - singular) is playing. The boys (plural) are playing. t - verb tense error V shift – verb shift error vf - incorrect verb form used Shift – shift in person Modification error mm – misplaced modifier dm – dangling modifier – subject of modifier missing Punct – punctuation error IDC – incorrect documentation & citation ; Sp- spelling error
