Look at the animals and make sure it looks they have enough water and food. * Look at different signs of abuse such as mange, the tightness of the collar, or starvation. « Spread awareness by making your family, friends, and neighbors knowledgeable of how to take care of an animal. WHAT IS ANIMAL ABUSE Animal Abuse is when a person deliberately tries to hurt an animal such as not giving them food and water, participating in animal fights, and overall neglecting them. According to PETA, people abuse animals usually because of their childhood past such as child abuse or deep mental dsturbances. STATISTICS « 70.1% of cases involve dogs, 20.9% involve cats, and 24.1% are other animals. * According to the Humane Society, 71% of domestic violence victims also reported their abuser targeted pets. * A few surveys suggest that animal abusers are predominantly men under 30. « According to the ASPCA, 70% of animal abusers have been accused of othe crimes *« About 10,000 dogs die WHAT HAS BEEN DONE * 31 states have made animal abuse a felony level law * 18 states have taken initiative to improve animal cruelty laws * Programs such as ASPCA, Human Society, etc. have helped to take in animals and put them up for adoption. every year in illegal dog fighting « Animal abusers are 5 times more likely to commit volent crimes against humans
