Essay Discussion (D-04) Nichole Prieto Professor: Ryan Lake Course: PHI 2604 October 7, 2022
Topic 2 Explain and defend your views on the following: Is there anything wrong in offering unauthorized immigrants "a path to citizenship"? Should children brought into a country illegally ever be deported? I personally support the idea that offering undocumented immigrants a route to citizenship is acceptable. In my opinion, there is absolutely no reason not to provide a road to citizenship for those who have ent ered the country illegally. I believe it is vital to provide those who have entered our nation unlawfully, a chance to eventually become lawful citizens. I think that a kid that was brought into the nation illegally should never be sent back out of the country. I understand that it may risky to offer citizenship to unauthorized immigrants since it is not easy to determine the motive of the decision to relocate to the US. In addition, the world has faced a deadly pandemic, which has proved to be challenging to control unauthorized immigrants and this may increase the infection if not examined properly. However, despite all these risks and dangers, I think that we should all understand that some of the unauthorized immigrants are innocent refugees who ran away from their country seeking peace better futures, and better lives. Therefore, it is important to offer these groups of people warm hospitality, and a chance to become US citizens since they do not pose any threat to the country. Immigrants serve as workers as some of them are skilled hence giving them a chance to become American citizens improves the labor sector while contributing to GDP. Admitting unauthorized immigrants would also improve the position of the US in international relations as many foreigners would be happy with the decision of the country to be welcoming. Immigrants would be liberated from the threat of abusive employers who use the fear of deportation to pay low wages and hazardous working conditions, individuals registered can be able to demand raises, enter labor unions and negotiate for higher salaries. it is not advisable to deport little child ren
