Team Charter

This charter documents key information regarding a project to be conducted by students at

Virginia Polytechnic Institute of Virginia on behalf of any person. The faculty adviser will be Professor

Knott. The project manager/team leader will be selected at the outset of the project by and from

among the members of the student team.

The team agrees to abide by all the restrictions and regulations of Virginia Tech when on site, to

place the safety of the client as its highest priority, and to work in accord with Virginia Tech Honor Code.

Goals

The project is assigned as part of Virginia Tech’s second semester engineering education design

course and we understand that we are expected to work to accomplish Virginia Tech’s goals for this

course.

The goals of the course are to:

1. Develop and understanding and experience of the conceptual design process;

2. Give the students experience in team dynamics; and

3. Enable students to learn to manage small design projects.

The goals of the team are to:

1. Satisfy the client’s needs and meet course requirements;

2. Learn about engineering and engineering design; and

3. Have fun while doing a good thing for someone.

Deliverables

The Following will be completed by deadlines given in the Gant Chart:

1. By the end of the first task, we will have a list of final objectives and a revised problem

statement.

2. By the end of task 2, we will have the known requirements needed for our design

3. By task 3, we will have an analyzed, tested, evaluated design

4. By task4 , we will have a proposed design and design details

5. At the end of task 5, we will have the design documented and report finished

For task 1, we are assigning the leadership to the team leader and every team member is going to help so that the best problem definition is found. The leader of the second, third, and fourth task is whoever comes up with the idea of the design. The final task leadership is given to whichever team member has the best writing and communication abilities. Citation: DYM, Clive, Patrick Little, Elizabeth Orwin, and R. Erik Spjut.
