ECE 230 DISCUSSION 3

1.Find the currents i1,i2,i3 and i4: 2.Find Vx,Is,Iin:

Technique to solve Nodal Analysis Problems with current sources:

  • Consider a circuit with n nodes n Select a reference node. Label the remaining n-‐ 1 nodes. n Assume current and voltage polarities. n Write KCL for each of the n-‐ 1 nodes. n For resistive branches, express the current in terms of node voltages and resistance. n Solve the resulting simultaneous equations.
  • With the node voltages known, the actual currents can then be determined

Techniques to solve SuperNodal Analysis Problems(Voltage sources): Consider a circuit with n nodes and m voltage sources n Select a reference node. Label the remaining n-‐ 1 nodes. Assume currents and voltage polarities n Treat each voltage source and connected nodes as a supernode, and write n-‐m-‐ 1 KCL equations. For resistive branches, express in terms of node voltages and resistance. n Write KVL equations for the m supernodes n Solve the resulting equation 3.Find V1,V2,V3,V4(SuperNode Analysis)
