Folk Dances
are the indigenous dances of any
specific “folk” or the common
people
are traditional customary or
recreational dance forms of a
given country w/c have evolved
naturally and were handed down
across generations
Folk dances are traditional dances found in
a certain country
National dances are folk dances but have a
national scope. They are popular throughout
a given country
examples: Carinosa, Curacha and Pandango
Ethnic dances are performed in primitive
tribes and have retained their close kinship
with religious ritual and community custom

- Occupational dances- depicts actions of labour or of a specific occupation.

- Comic dances – depicts funny movements intended for entertainment.
- Game dances – done with play element.

- Courtship dances – depict the act of courtship or dances with love themes.
- Festival dances – suitable for special occasions or any social gatherings.
- War dances – show imagery of combat or duel.

- Set – consist of two or more pairs as a unit facing each other or standing side by side.
