Fractured Fairy Tale Assignment
long time ago there lived a father, a wife, and their lovely little girl named
Cinderella. Cinderella loved the woods. Then one day her dad built a little cabin
for her to keep preasuce little treasures in. Then one day her mother fell ill. Her
mother knew that she didn’t have much longer, so she made a blue cape for her. Her mother
knew that the end was drawing near, so she asked for a pen, some paper, and some envelopes.
Now after Cinderella was sent to bed, her mother wrote out two letters. Those letters were the
very last, she ever wrote.
The next morning Cinderella went into her mother's room. As Cinderella sat by the bed
her mother spoke these words, “Listen to me my darling Cinderella I love you so much. I want to
tell you that no matter how hard and dark this world is there will always be light. You Cinderella
are the light in this world. Always be kind, polite, greet people with happiness, and obey your
elders. Someday just maybe, later on, life may reward you. My darling Cinderella I love you so
much more than you know.” With that her mother died.
The next few years Cinderella learned from her father and was told all about the journeys
he had taken. During those years she learned to read. The more she started to read the more she
craved knowledge grew. She began to read everything she could get her hands on. Sadly her
father didn’t know that she was lonely and would go out every day to her mother's grave and
weep.

Cinderella missed her mom, but her life with her dad was very hard and difficult. Cinderella always kept a smile on her face even in the midst of hardships. One day her father told her that she was to have a stepmother and two step sisters. He told her all about how nice they are, but little did he know that they were actually cruel. He said their names are Murtha her so to be stepmother, Matiniete and Tikki were her soon to be stepsisters. He told her how happy he was that she always had a smile on her face. He said that they were to be married in two months time. About two months later her new step family moved in. Cinderella was immediately treated like a slave. She worked hard and long each day with very little food and rest but still she kept a smile on her face. One day her father left on a journey. He never came back, at least alive. Some soldiers found him near the front lines where he was shot in the crossfire. Cinderella's father was buried right next mother’s grave. Several years later… In the kitchen Cinderella is washing the dishes from breakfast. When her angry stepmother storms into the room. “Cinderella, make these dresses! I want them done by noon or else no meals for a week,” said Murtha. “Yes mam.” Answered Cinderella in dismay. “Well hurry up and don’t dottle now unless you need more work to do.” Murtha snapped. “Yes mam.” Cinderella replied, but her thoughts were reminding her of the last words her mother said.“Are you saying you need more work,” said Murtha impatiently. “No mam,” said Cinderella earnestly. “Well go on now! Get going work now!” Yelled Murtha. “Yes mam,” choked Cinderella, on the verge of tears. A few hours later Cinderella finishes the dresses. When she gives the dresses to Murtha only to find her in a bad mood. “What’s this!” Yelled her Murtha. “The dresses you told me to make.” Choked out Cinderella. “These are the wrong colors, they're supposed to be purple, pink,

When Prince Edward arrived home he went into the room of his ageing father. “Father,” the Prince Edward said excitedly, “Guess what I saw today!” “What did you see my son,” the king replied. “I saw a deer. Also that deer led me to this girl who was riding on a horse!” Prince Edward replied and his eyes lit up. “Really my son and did you see where she went?” “No Father I didn't. I lost her a few seconds ago. All I know about her is that she was wearing a blue cape with a silver lining.” Replied the Prince Edward in dismay. The king was thinking of how little time he had and how much he wanted to see his well off and married. “Well then you should have a wife!” Exclaimed the King. “I just want to not have an arranged marriage. Right now I just want to meet the one on my own you know.” Prince Edward said gasping from shock at the words his father had just said. The king, seeing his son’s reaction, knew he must push hard. Also while being kind and gentle while doing so. “Yes I do understand. Well then, how about a ball then.” Prince Edward knew that his father would only push him to do so over and over. The price thought to himself if I invite the whole country then I will definitely b able to see her again so he said. “That sounds okay. Can we invite the whole country.” The king knew that this was the only way for them to agree so he replied genously, “Yes my son, that sounds great.” As Prince Edward pieced the puzzle together he asked his father,“Do you think I will find her there?” The king knew how his son hoped to see her again but he was not able to say the truth of reality so instead he said this, “Most certainly so my son, most certainly so.” When Prince Edward heard that he was so overjoyed with relief and happiness. “Thanks Father.” He said with a genuine smile. Prince Edward was thinking of leaving, when his father said, “I realize that I was kinda straight forward with you. I'm sorry. It’s just that with my life withering away I want to see you all settled down with a wife.”

Prince Edward was so taken aback by the words that he forgot his manners and yelled, “Father don’t talk like that I know that…” Before he could finish his sentence his father interrupted him saying, “Hush my son and listen.” Prince Edward reached out and took hold of his hand and said, “Father I’m sorry....” The king started to get annoyed, interrupted again, and commanded, “Hush son or you will never hear what I have to say.” Prince Edward realized that he had been rude to his father twice so he humbly said, “Yes Father.” The king cleared his throat and said, “Now here's your lesson from today. The lesson for today is that life that decides if you should live or die.” The king paused and looked at his son, the most precious son in the world and successor, then he continued speaking, “Life that can take and give. We live for a reason that you must find that reason. That reason could be anything. Do you understand my son?” Prince Edward looked up into the eyes of his loving father and answered,“Yes father.” They sat in silence for a few minutes and then continued the lesson.“I believe that we not only have a reason but we must find a person. Each of us lives for a certain person. My son do you have any questions?” The Prince Edward thought for a second then said, “So, father, what you’re saying is that I’m living for a certain person.” The king, surprised and proud, said calmly and quietly, “Yes my son.” Prince Edward couldn’t stop there. He kept on thinking and asked his father, “Could that girl be the one who needs me father?” The king was puzzled at this and thought that it could be the reason to but wasn’t sure. He then said, “I don’t know my son.” They sat there for a few minutes then the ling said, “feel quite tired so if you please I’ll be going to sleep now.” Prince Edward jumped to his feet and said, “Well goodbye father I shall see you tomorrow, if you wish.” The king now half asleep whispered, “Yes that sounds nice.”

Just before Cinderella could answer the clock struck twelve and it was time for Cinderella to go. “I’m sorry I must go or else- Well I must be going it was fun thank you.” Said Cinderella in a hurry. With that she was gone. Prince Edward ran to the stables. When he arrived there he jumped on and took off after her. But lost her instead he noticed a glass slipper. In hopes of finding her again he raced back to the castle. In the hurry to flee Cinderella dropped her glass slipper. Cinderella arrived home right on time and she gave the frog the clothes. Cinderella worked hard on the chores and finished them just in time for when Murtha, Marinete and Tikki had arrived home. The next few days were treacherous and gloomy for Cinderella but she always kept a smile on her face. One day a carriage pulled up in front of their house. Cinderella went to get Murtha, Maranet and Tikki, only to see Murtha chopping off their heels and toes. “Stepmother, why are you hurting them? Are they not perfect already?” Asked Cinderella. “They need this if they're going to have a chance of being a Prince Edwardss wife,” Grunted Murtha. “Mam, we have guests in the parlor.” Said Cinderella sarcastically, but she was really feeling excited for her Prince Edward had come for her. The Prince Edward had come for her, not someone else but for her! Suddenly a thought came to mind. Prince Edward would never fall in love with a girl who was in rags and in tatters. “Cinderella come get us our fanciest tea.” Commanded Murtha. “Yeah I wouldn't want the Prince waiting.” Laughed her two stepsisters. When Cinderella reached the parlor she put on a brave happy smile. Cinderella gave everyone in that room the tea and turned to leave. Before she could leave, Prince Edward said let's get down to business shall we?” The Prince Edward asked. “Yes that sounds nice now Cinderella go get us some of those cream puffs.” Commanded the stepmother. “Yes mam, I shall

be right back with those.” Replied Cilderella kindly and walked out of the room to fetch the cream puffs. “Who shall try on the slipper first?” Asked the Prince Edward. “Marinete since she is the oldest.” Said Murtha. Prince Edward brought out the slipper and handed it Marinete. The slipper was too big because of her missing toes. “Shall we try your other daughter, Tikki if I recall.” Suggested by Prince Edward. “Yes, Tiki, go on, put your foot in it.” Commanded Murtha. Tiki put her foot into it. The slipper fit okay but it was a little small on her. Prince Edward started to smile but the blood poured into the stocking and Tiki took off the slipper. Just then Cinderella walked in with a tray full of cream puffs. “Thank you Cinderella. You may leave now.” Said Murtha. “Wait come mere.” Prince Edward said. “Yes, do you need something?” Asked Cinderella. “Yes I would like you to try this on for me.” Prince Edward said kindly. Before he could put the slipper on her the Murtha grabbed it and smashed it. “There now there is no need for you to try the slipper on because the Prince could never love you! Remember you are only a maid and nothing more.” Yelled Murtha. The Prince started to leave, but before he could get into his carriage he heard a soft voice. “Wait, come with me.” Cinderella said shyly. “Yes of course.” Prince Edward said on the verge of laughter. Cinderella went away and came back with her mare. “Here,” she hopped up in front and then continued saying, “Hop on the back and I will take you there.” Prince Edward hopped on the back. Then once he got a grip he nodded and they were off. When they reached the cottage Cinderella hopped down, ran inside and returned with a glass slipper. “There now you have a similar slipper that my stepmother broke.” Declared Cinderella. “How could you have one unless…” Prince Edward says and then starts to trail off. “What, what is it?” Asked Cinderella. “You’re the one I’ve been looking for!” Prince Edward
