Reflective Writing
My Future
Jessica Arroyo
March 1, 2026
When I think about my future as a radiologic technologist, I feel excited about how many
directions this career can take me. Even though I haven’t rotated through every imaging modality
yet, I’m really looking forward to seeing what each area has to offer. Every new experience
reminds me how much there is to learn in radiography, and that’s something I truly enjoy. I
know each modality comes with its own challenges, and I’m eager to continue building my skills
and confidence as I move forward in my training.
My short-term goal is to start my career in the X-ray department at Baystate Medical Center. I’m
especially drawn to the fast-paced environment of a Level I trauma center because I know it will
push me to grow, both technically and mentally. Working in high-pressure situations will help
me sharpen my positioning skills, think quickly, and become more confident in my abilities. My
clinical experiences at HMC and CDH have already played a big role in shaping this goal.
Watching technologists handle difficult cases while staying calm and focused has been incredibly
motivating and has shown me the kind of technologist I want to become.
As I look ahead, I know that continuing to learn will always be important to me. I’ve found that I
really enjoy working in the operating room, where things can change quickly and teamwork is
essential. I like the challenge of adapting on the spot and communicating clearly with everyone

I like the challenge of adapting on the spot and communicating clearly with everyone

involved. I’m also very interested in interventional radiology because it’s a hands-on, constantly evolving area that combines advanced imaging with direct patient care. By gaining experience in different settings and pushing myself outside my comfort zone, I hope to grow into a confident, well-rounded radiologic technologist who provides the best care possible to every patient.
