Gravitational Force Study Review!!
Gravitational Force - -An attractive force that
acts between any two objects.
Universal Law of Gravitation - -"every object in
the universe was attracted to every other object with
a force (gravity) that is directly proportional to the
product of their masses and inversely proportional to
the square of the distances between them. "
Mass - -A measure of the amount of matter in
an object
Weight - -A measure of the force of gravity on
an object
Force - -A push or pull exerted on an object
Acceleration due to Gravity - -The acceleration
of an object in free fall that results from the influence
of Earth's gravity.
Orbit - -The curved path of a celestial object or
spacecraft around a star, planet, or moon, esp. a
periodic elliptical revolution
Satellite - -An object that revolves around
another object in space
Free Fall - -The motion of a falling object when
the only force acting on it is gravity.
Directly Proportional - -As the value of one
variable increases, the value of the other increases
and vice-versa (e.g., temperature and volume,
temperature and pressure)
Inversely Proportional - -As the value of one
variable increases, the value of the other decreases
and vice-versa (e.g., pressure and volume)
