Newton’s Law of Gravitation

Given any pair of object, there exists a force of attraction between them with following features-

Strength of force depends ● Product of their masses ● Inverse square of their separation ➢ Force is directed along line joining them. ➢ It is Universal in nature.

G: gravitational constant G =

Moon in its orbit

An object moving in circle with uniform speed require centripetal force to sustain the motion. In above case tension in string is providing the force.

Who is providing centripetal force to moon?

Centripetal force on moon is given by = 2 x 10^(20) Newton Then we calculate gravitational force on moon due to Earth, = 2 x 10^(20) Newton

Tides

● Tides are rise and fall in sea level(periodically). ● Surprisingly, our sun and moon has role to play in it.

Water is getting pulled toward moon. Hence, they assume new shape.
