Hi, Barbies and Kens! We are Group 4, here to present you, Health and Skill Related Components with their usual Physical Fitness Tests and some Alternatives. First, let's tackle the Health-related fitness components. Flexibility. It is the ability of a joint or series of joints to move through an unrestricted, pain free range of motion. A physical fitness test that is fit for this is the Sit and Reach wherein the person sits on the floor and tries to reach their toes without moving their leg. But some alternatives are V-Sit and Shoulder Warm Up. Muscular strength. It is the ability to lift and move objects with maximum force for a short period of time. The One-Repetition Maximum (1RM) is done to determine the maximum weight an individual can lift for a single repetition in exercises like bench press, squat, or deadlift. You can also do Weightlifting. Cardiovascular Endurance. It is how you can keep up doing activities or exercises that involve your whole body to move at a long period of time. It is the ability of your body to supply you with oxygen. A simple way to improve this is by doing Jumping Jacks, but if you're looking for a much simpler way, you can always just do some walking. Muscular Endurance. It is the ability to exert oneself and remain active for a long period of time, as well as the ability to resist, withstand, recover from and have immunity to trauma, wounds, or fatigue. The term is often used in the context of aerobic or anaerobic exercise. You can measure this by doing the Squat test, an exercise to see how many squats you can do within a minute. You can also do Endurance jump.
Body Composition. It is the ratio of the body's fat mass to its lean mass. People with ideal body composition tend to be healthier, move more freely and effectively, and feel generally better. Burpees is full body exercises used in strength training, fit for this component. Another way is doing Sledgehammer swings, which is an unusual exercise that incorporates swinging a sledgehammer into remedying body composition problems. Now, we move on to the Skill-related components. Power. It is the ability to move the body parts swiftly while applying the maximum force of the muscles. You can test this by doing the Vertical Jump Test, in which the person puts chalk on their finger tips to mark the wall at the height of their jump. The person then stands away from the wall, and jumps vertically as high as possible using both arms and legs to assist in projecting the body upwards. An alternative to this is the Running one-leg vertical jump test, which is a variation of the previous mentioned. Agility or nimbleness is an ability to change the body's position quickly and requires the integration of isolated movement skills using a combination of balance, coordination, speed, reflexes, strength, and endurance. The Hexagonal Agility test is a measure of speed, agility and the ability to change direction while maintaining a sound balance or a foundation. Other ways are doing the T-test or Arrowhead test. Speed. It is the ability to move your body quickly in one direction. In doing the 40-Yard Dash, you are to measure the time it takes to sprint 40 yards from a standing start. But same as the dash, simple Running or jogging should do the trick. Reaction Time. It is how fast you respond or react to a stimulus. A common way to test this is by doing the Ruler Drop Test. But you can also do this exercise that requires a partner and two tennis balls labeled "1" and "2". While holding two tennis balls within arm's length, your partner must drop both at the same time while calling out a number between 1 and 2—reacting in time and catching the right ball exhibits excellent reaction time.
