Assignment
Guinness World Records Database
You have to do an assignment on Guinness World Records. The scope of the assignment
covers five world records from countries specified in the table in front of your name. In
order to prepare for the class you decide to organize the records in a simple database that you
will create. The Internet has all the information you need for the database, you just need to
research the Guinness World Records from country specified in the table given below in
front of your name. The database will include two tables. The record table and the holder
table.
1. Start Access and open a new blank database. Name the database Record.
2. Use your favorite search engine to research information to find five records from
Guinness World Records that are from country specified in the table in front of your
name.
3. Create a table called record. Accept the default ID primary key field with the Number
data type, renaming it as record ID. Create the fields, such as record title, date and
year. Be sure to define the data type appropriate for each field and to use appropriate
field naming techniques.
4. Create a table called holder that has the fields holder ID, holder_name1,
holder_name2 (if there is only one record holder then write No in holder_name2 and
if there are more then two, then only write two names, one in holder_name1 and
second in holder_name2) and country. The record ID is the common field between
the two tables.
5. Enter five records into the record table that you have researched from the internet.
6. View five records in the record table in datasheet view.
7. Enter the records in the holder table that you have researched from the internet.
8. View the records in the holder table in datasheet view.
9. Use the Relationships window to join the two tables based on the record ID field.
Enforce referential integrity.
10. Save the database and then exit Access.
Note: View the table given below.
