HTML Coding Exercise

Overview As part of EIST6121: Instructional Courseware Authoring , you have been learning about HTML (and introduced to Javascript). The HTML (and subsequent Javascript) Coding Exercises are opportunities for you to check your understanding of this content. Each of these activities also contributes up to 60 points to your final course grade. Assignment Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to check your understanding of the materials covered in the HTML and Javascript self‐instructional materials. It is also an opportunity for you to gain additional practice in using HTML and Javascript. Materials you need for this Activity The graphic and text files you need to develop the identified web pages are provided as part of this activity. As you produce the 3 web pages, you will need access to 3 graphics files. The graphic files are provided and include:

  • uncc‐logo.gif
  • vernier.jpg
  • mindgame.gif In addition, you are being provided 3 text files that contain all the text elements displayed on the web pages. You can use these text files to copy and paste text into your web pages so you avoid having to re‐ key or type in this text. The three text files include:
  • index‐text.doc
  • examples‐text.doc
  • comments‐text.doc File Structure To create and submit your web pages, place all of your HTML Coding Exercise web page files into a single folder called ‘ html‐exercises’ and upload to your ‘ edukate ’ site. Place the URL for your Index page in the space provided at the end of this assignment description. Notes You may use any web editor to complete these activities, but you must use FrontPage, SharePoint Designer, or Expression Web to upload your site to 'edukate'. Also, any web editor used must support the functionality listed in the assignment specifications. Save these files, as you will return to them for use in the Javascript Coding Exercise. In this exercise, you will be creating the HTML portion of the site; in the Javascript Coding Exercise you will add Javascript code to various elements of the HTML pages.
