For my journal assignment, I researched for jobs in my area that work with victims of
sexual offenses. The only position I could find in Pennsylvania was a director position for the
Bucks County, Children’s Advocacy Center, also known as the BCCAC, through the Network
Of Victim Assistance (NOVA). The director's job duties are to oversee the program,
communicate with other organizations, and work with the CAC to ensure that investigations of
child sexual and physical abuse are appropriately handled. That child is provided in a
safe/friendly environment (Network of Victim Assistance Director of the Bucks County,
Children’s Advocacy Center (BCCAC), 2020). to obtain this position, one must have a master's
level degree in a related field, three years of supervisory experiences, experiences within child
welfare, and has to be able to work on a team (Network of Victim Assistance Director of the
Bucks County, Children’s Advocacy Center (BCCAC), 2020).
This position sounds like a job I would enjoy, but unfortunately, I am underqualified. I
would want this position because I would assist children who have experienced sexual and
physical abuse. Still, I will be able to educate others on how to treat these clients properly. I
would also have the ability to ensure that they are receiving proper safety, living in a positive
environment, and potentially providing them with justice. I would advocate for these children on
a higher level and assure that each child in the program is being treated properly.
If I were to switch paths and work in this field, this would probably be the only job I
could handle. I would only want to interact with the victims. The reasoning for this is personal,
but as a child, I was a victim of sexual abuse and witnessed domestic violence. Later on, I was a
