1. What is your topic for your informative speech?
My topic is parenting styles and their impact on children. My specific
purpose is to inform my audience about the different parenting
styles and how they affect a child’s behavior, emotional
development, and overall growth.
2. What is your attention getter?
I want to start with a relatable question:
“Have you ever stopped and thought about how much of who you
are today comes from how you were raised?”
Then I’ll briefly connect it to how the way we’re parented shows up
in our behavior, relationships, and mindset.
3. What is your thesis?
In this speech, you will be informed about the four main parenting
styles and how each one impacts a child’s development, behavior,
and emotional well-being.
4. What are your three main points?
First, I will explain the four main parenting styles: authoritative,
authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful.
Second, I will discuss how each of these parenting styles affects a
child’s behavior, emotional development, and social skills.
Third, I will explain why parenting styles matter long-term and how
they can shape a child into adulthood.

Second → third point: “Beyond childhood, these effects don’t just stop there.” D. Third → conclusion: “When you take all of this into consideration, it really shows how powerful parenting can be.” 6. At the end of the day, parenting isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being intentional, because the way we raise our children doesn’t just affect who they are now; it shapes who they will become later.
