(b) (i) Explain the difference between RAM and ROM. Why are both types of memory

Q3 The following is an Access Database exercise. Name this database “PopMusic”.

“PopMusic” contains statistical information on various pop artists. The information held on each artist/band is as follows:-

  • Artist Name – Performer name
  • (^) Country of Origin – Performer nationality
  • Number International Awards – number of worldwide awards
  • Highest UK Chart Place – highest ever spot reached in UK pop charts
  • Record Company – name of artists’ record company
  • US Chart Success? – whether or not artist has hit the US pop charts
  • Average Annual Earnings –current earnings from royalties each year

Set up a database holding the details on the ten artists listed below. You can use the italicized words given above as field names but you must decide on the relevant data type for each field.

1 Save the table as “MusicStats” and carry out the following tasks;

EACH QUERY SHOULD BE SAVED AS FOLLOWS; Query number and your initials e.g. if your name is John Smith and you are saving query1, it will be saved as Query1JS

Set up and save a query showing all details of artists:- 2 Whose first name begins with “P” (Query1) 3 Who hail from Ireland (Query2) 4 Display the artists who have won 500 or more international awards (Query3) Set up and save a query which:- 5 sorts the table “MusicStats” into ascending order based on “Country of Origin” and descending order based on “No International Awards” (Query4) Set up and save a query from the Query4 file displaying only:- 6 the artist name, country of origin, record company of artists who hail from either Ireland or England and where a verage annual earnings equal or exceed €5m (Query5) Set up and save a query which:- 7 Searches through the Query4 file for the character sequence “lan” under record company name and displays the results in descending order according to highest UK chart placing (Query6) Set up and save a query from the “MusicStats” table displaying only:- 8 the artist name, country of origin, highest UK chart place, for all artists who have had US success, have average annual earnings in excess of €5m but who have won less than 500 international awards (Query7)
