Tigaon, Camarines Sur Basic Education Department Passion for Truth and Compassion for Humanity” INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Your Digital World INTRODUCTION Are you updated to the latest model of cellphone, computers, tablets or other gadgets? Are you interested to the new innovation and discoveries of technology nowadays? Have you ever wondered why they always upgrade and update the different technology every now and then? You are a member of an “Always On” generation, accustomed to spending 8 hours or more a day looking at a various screens-on cellphones, on computer, TV’s, online games and other social media accounts. What are the developments that have encouraged these kinds of behavior? The answer is Information Technology. It refers to a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information. Because of the demands of society and sometimes it is considered our needs nowadays there are alot of discoveries and innovation related to Information technology like the internet, broadband, the world wide web; PC and Laptop computers; mobile phones; and email that would give as a lot of information that we can use to our day to day lives specially this time of pandemic. But the questions are, do you use the technology or your gadgets in a productive way? Essential questions: How computer savvy benifits you? How does information technology affect in education, health, money, leisure, government, and careers? How does Information Technology facilitate email, networks, and the use of the internet and web? What four basic operations do all computer use and what are some of the devices associated with each operation? How does communications affects these operations? Content Standard: Demonstrate an understanding of the different technology that helps to manipulate and disseminate information. Performance Standard: Create a simple video clip that gives awareness to the viewer using the new technology. Formation Standards: Demonstrate VERACITY and OPENNESS in providing meaningful ideas while using the different innovation and discoveries of technology. Enduring Understanding: Information Technology is becoming like a second skin-an extension of our intellects and even emotions, creating almost a parallel universe of “digital selves”. Being computer savvy means knowing what computers can do and what they can’t, knowing how they can benefit you and how they can harm you. Action goal: Use computer application tools to maximize creativity in developing digital outputs. LESSONS AND COVERAGE In this module, your learning will be maximized as you take the following lessons: Lesson 1.

  1. You will know how to upgrade your equipment & integrate it with** new products New gadgetry and software are constantly being developed. A knowledgeable user learns under what conditions to upgrade, how to do so, and when to start over by buying a new machine. 4. You will know how to use the internet most effectively The sea of the data that exists on the internet and other online sources is so great the finding what’s best or what’s really needed can be a hugely time-consuming activity. 5. You will know how to protect yourself against online villains The online world poses real risks to your time, your privacy, your finances, and your peace of mind-spammers, hackers, virus senders, identifying thieves, and companies and agencies constructing giant databases of personal profile. 6. You will know what kinds of computer uses can advance your career Even top executives now use computers, as do people in careers ranging from police work to politics, from medicine to music, from retail to recreation.
