Why are you interested in the fields of engineering? I am interested in engineering because I like understanding how things work and finding ways to improve them. I enjoy solving problems and testing ideas to see real results. It is satisfying to take something from a concept and turn it into something that actually works. My main interests are aerospace and mechanical engineering, especially focused on planes and cars. I am curious about how aircraft are designed to fly efficiently and how cars are built for speed, control, and performance. I like thinking about how small design changes can make a big difference. I attended a four-year engineering program known as UTRGV TEXPREP where I worked on different projects each summer. Throughout the program, I earned honors every year and placed first in multiple projects. During these experiences, I also helped guide my peers and contribute ideas, even when I was not the official leader. These experiences made me realize that I like both the technical and teamwork sides of engineering, and they strengthened my interest in pursuing it as a career. Please describe your future academic and career goals My goal is to study aerospace or mechanical engineering in college, and I am strongly considering double majoring in both because of how closely they connect. I want to build a strong foundation in math, physics, and engineering design so I can understand and work with complex systems. In the future, I want to work at an aerospace company that focuses on aircraft, where I can help design or improve planes and military aircraft. I am especially interested in improving efficiency, aerodynamics, and performance. I am also interested in the automotive field, especially high-performance cars or racing like Formula 1. I want to work on improving speed, handling, and overall design through engineering. My long-term goal is to become an engineer who can contribute to both aviation and automotive industries while also growing into leadership roles where I can help guide projects and teams. Please explain why you are applying for a tuition discount I am applying for a tuition discount because I am very interested in attending this program, but the cost is a challenge for me and my family. Opportunities like this are important to me because they provide access to hands-on experiences that I would not normally have. This camp connects directly to my interests in aerospace and mechanical engineering. After completing a four-year engineering program where I earned honors and placed first in multiple projects, I want to continue challenging myself and building on what I have learned.
A tuition discount would make it possible for me to attend and continue developing my skills. I am committed to putting in my full effort, learning as much as I can, and contributing to group projects. Would you like to share any additional information to support your request for tuition discounts? Over the past four summers in an engineering program, I consistently pushed myself to do my best. Earning honors each year and placing first in multiple projects reflects my dedication and work ethic. I also developed leadership skills by helping guide my peers, contributing ideas, and working collaboratively to improve our projects. Even when I was not the official leader, I took initiative to help move our work forward. I am serious about pursuing engineering, especially in aerospace and mechanical fields. Programs like this are important for helping me take the next step toward my goals by giving me new challenges and experiences. If given this opportunity, I will fully commit to learning, participating, and making the most of the experience. I want to continue growing and preparing for my future in engineering.
