Comparison of Cultural Practices and Healthcare: United States and Salvador Ashley Rodriguez Health Science II
Culture is the values, morals, beliefs and material traits that a religious, social or racial group believe and that are instilled in them from birth. Many cultural differences exist between different countries and healthcare. In the US, it is way more expensive to get healthcare. The government doesn't provide healthcare for citizens or visitors. Even though it is quite expensive, you can still get health insurance and it will pay for some of it or if you're lucky they will pay for the whole thing. If you were to move to the US you would most definitely experience cultural assimilation because healthcare is way different than other countries. Just as it is expensive, there are a lot of doctors to help and won’t be a limited selection. In Salvador, it is quite different than in the US. Doctors are extremely limited and hard to actually get healed. In order to get a somewhat decent check up you need to have a privately run healthcare sector. In hospitals, it is even worse with understaffing and less access to medical equipment. There is no selection of health insurance besides the salvadoran social security institution which would only apply to people that work. Although many differences exist between the US and Salvadore, the goal is the same for all. Everyone wants to receive help for whatever is ailing them. Even if they are from different ethnicity everyone wants what is best for themselves. 2
