Southern Davao National High School Division of Panabo City Region XI LESSON PLAN Name of Teacher: LP Sheena S. Sinda Date & Time: April 14, 2023 – 8:00-9:00 AM Subject Area: Mathematics 8 Quarter: III I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
Activity 1. Identify the corresponding congruent parts of the two congruent triangles and state the congruence postulates Corresponding Congruent Parts Triangle Congruence Postulate
Guide Questions: What are the two pairs of congruent segments? What is the pair of angles? What triangle congruence postulate is #1?#2? Engage (Group Activity) The teacher will choose 6 students in the class and let them stand in front and give each of them with different sizes of triangles. The teacher will ask the each student to pick one triangle from the box. The 6 chosen students are excluded. When all students have picked their triangles, they will do the activity below. Activity 2. Find my friends! Direction: After you pick your triangles, find the students standing in front who have the same size of triangles as yours. Then fall in line. ( This activity will also determine the groupings of the students and the 6 chosen students will serve as the group leaders) Explore (Group Activity) The students will be grouped based on the activity 2 performed. Students will play a relay game. They will be asked to perform the activity below. This activity will promote group dynamic learning, collaboration and camaraderie. Each group will be given the following materials: cutout terminologies, handouts, cartolinas, etc. These materials will be placed on the floor equidistant to each other. Each group leader will stay in front of the their assigned materials or assigned post. During the game, all group leaders must stay at their posts where the materials are placed while members will stay 3-meter apart from the their leaders. The game will start after the teacher will give go signal Each member will run to their assigned materials and take one cutout at a time and place it to the cartolinas. ( See content of the activity sheet below. This is also how the cartolina will be looked like ) The role of the group leader will help his/her member while arranging and pasting the cutout materials. After one member will be done, the next member will do and that preceding member will go to the back of their line to wait for his/her
Hypotenuse – it is the longest side of the right triangle. A side opposite to a right angle of the right triangle Legs – are the two sides of the right triangle which are not hypotenuse Acute angle – an angle who measure is greater than 0O^ but less than 90O Another theorem that can be deduced from the congruence postulates are the congruence of right triangles HyA (Hypotenuse-Acute angle) Congruence Theorem If the hypotenuse and an acute angle of one right triangle are congruent to the corresponding hypotenuse and an acute angle of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent. HyL (Hypotenuse-leg) Congruence Theorem If the hypotenuse and a leg of one right triangle are congruent to the corresponding hypotenuse and a leg of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent. LA (leg-acute angle) Congruence Theorem If a leg and an acute angle of one right triangle are congruent to a leg and an acute angle of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent. LL (Leg Leg) Congruence Theorem If the legs of one right triangle are congruent to the legs of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent. Explain (Socialized Discussion) Each group will post their outputs on the board. Students will go back to their proper seating arrangement Guide Questions: How were you able to identify the corresponding parts of the two congruent right triangles? Can you identify the right triangle congruence theorem of each of pair of two right triangles? Elaborate (Socialized Discussion) Students will go back to their chairs They will be asked to perform the activity below Activity 4. Try More! Direction: Suppose that two triangles are congruent. State what right triangle congruence each pair is. Then identify the corresponding congruent parts that make the two right triangles congruent.
Guide questions: What are the two pairs of corresponding congruent parts of two triangles in #1? in # 2? What congruence theorem is #1? #2? Extend Assignment: one (1) A4 bond paper Choose one right triangle congruence theorem to make an art using congruent right triangles. Use only three (3) different colors in your triangles. See sample arts below. Criteria Points Color combination 10 Originality 10 Design 20 Neatness 10 Total 50 (This acitivity will make students who are not mathematically inclined individuals appreciate the beauty and application of triangle congruence as well as discovering their potentials in arts) Evaluate Quiz: ¼ Direction: Identify the corresponding congruent parts of two congruent right triangles and state their triangle congruence theorems.
