حَي َّ نَتَكَلَّم ُ الْعَرَبِيَّة Let’s speak Arabic. (Unit one)
Lesson 1 and 2
Marhaba(n) : Welcome (male or female) مرحبًا
Marhaban bika: Welcome (male)
Marhaban biki: Welcome (female) ِ
Ahlan wa sahlan: Glad to see you or welcome
Ahlan bika: (male)
Ahlan biki: (female) ِ
You can initiate with marhaban or ahlan and reply with marhaban or ahlan, if someone says
marhaban you say ahlan and vice versa.
يا هاال is short form of ahlan and can be used for both male and female.
كَيْف َ الْحَال : How are you (Male or female)
كَيْف َ حَالُك or
كِيْفَك: How are you(Male).
كَيْف َ حَالُك or
كِيْفِك: How are you(female).
In informal language Izayyak, Izayyik(f), Shlonak, Shlonich(f) (pronounced same as ch of chin) are
also used.
كيف صِحَّتُك : How is your health?
Lesson 3 (Response)
With Goodness Alhamdulillah بِخَىْر ٍ الحمدلله. This is response to kaifal hal.

Lesson 8
For the following lesson some sentences end with both eerab َ ِ i.e fathah(zabar) and kasrah(zer),
e.g
ك would be masculine and with ِ
ك feminine. So, read once with fathah for masculine and again
with kasrah for feminine.

The person who is speaking is called the first person, the person who is being spoken to is second
person, the person being spoken about is the third person.

I am happy to meet you Aamir(or Aamirah). (آمرة) أنَا ٌ
If you are speaking to a female use
سْمَحِيِإ instead of ْ
إسْمَح. The rest of the sentence will remain
same.

I am from Egypt. أنَا ْ
Are you(female) from Egypt?
A) I am a teacher. أنا مُدَرِّس

Note: ة os used when person being addressed or speaker is a female.
