Part I – Setting up your map

_____ - Click “Untitled Map” and give your map a name. Use your name and Migration Map. For Example:

Part II – Creating your layers and pins
Go to Refugees (https://www.unrefugees.org/emergencies/) and select one of the refugee crises.
_____ - Click “Untitled Layer” and when the text box opens rename this layer “_______ Refugee Crisis” (fill in
the blank with the country name for the article you read)
_____ - In the map search box type in the name of the country
_____ - When the pin appears, click “add to map”
_____ - Once the pin appears on the map AND in the box on the left click on the name of your country from the
box on the left. A text box will appear and you need to click the pencil at the bottom of that box. In the text box
list and describe three push factors for migrants leaving your country. Once you finish click the X in the top
right of that box.
_____ - In the map search box type in one destination for the refugees from your country. (Refer to the website
or work previously completed in this class) Once you select your location click “add to map”
_____ - Once the pin appears on the map AND in the box on the left click on the word for your location from
the box on the left. A text box will appear and you need to click the pencil at the bottom of that box. In the text
box list and describe three pull factors for migrants leaving your country and going to this place. Once you
finish click the X in the top right of that box.
