Measuring Blood Pressure and Heart Rate: A Guide, Slides of Physical education

A concise overview of measuring blood pressure and heart rate, including methods such as palpation and auscultation. It discusses factors influencing heart rate, such as intensity of physical activity, resting heart rate, and average resting heart rate. The document also identifies locations for pulse detection, such as the radial and carotid arteries, and offers guidance on proper techniques and considerations for accurate measurement. It is suitable for students and individuals interested in understanding basic health metrics and monitoring physical activity.

A person's heart rate or pulse refers to the number of times his/her heart beats per minute. The heart rates (HR) vary tremendously depending on the different demands placed upon it.

📌Lower resting and submaximal heart rates indicate higher- ups fitness levels. 📌Higher resting and submaximal heart rates indicated poor physical fitness.

Several methods are used to measure
heart rate, both at rest and during exercise or
any physical activity: 12-lead
electrocardiogram (ECG), Telemetry,
Palpation, and Auscultation with
stethoscope. Hence, palpation and
auscultation each has an accuracy within
90%-95% of a heart rate monitor.
