Teach your class about the basic properties of some common elements as well as introducing them to some simple reactions. They can use problem solving skills to assess the clues and information and then form conclusions based on their results.
- Mr Sodium exploded and three of the other guests have disappeared at the PeriodicManor House. A light was smashed just before the murder occurred and caused all the lights to go out so nobody saw what happened!
- Can your Super Sleuth Students find out what happened?
- Each student is assigned a card with their element's properties and something that they saw just before or just after the murder. Some facts are directly related, other facts are red herrings, but which is which?
- Allow your students time to cross reference and record the information. When thetime is up get them to write an investigator report detailing what happened and how it happened.
- The rest are additional clues, mix and match the red herrings into them to suit your class number and also difficulty.
