My Interview Questions and Responses
**Why did you choose AKA? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>I want to be a part of
AKA for various reasons. Growing up, I had the privilege of knowing and
loving many women who are a part of the organization. These ladies were
some of my role models! They were beautiful, not just in appearance, but in
spirit. They carried themselves with class and a spirit of excellence, and they
supported me in unspeakable ways. When I first arrived on campus, one of
the first events that I attended was Bear Fair, whereI got the opportunity to
become acquainted with the NPHC organizations at Mercer. From here, I
made it a point to become more familiarized with the chapter here at Mercer.
To me, the Iota Eta Chapter embodies nothing but excellence.
I consider myself a selfless person, and Alpha Kappa Alpha is an organization
that puts service to all mankind before their own desires. I started my
organization, The Buddy Bunch, not only because it is a cause that I hold
near and dear, but because my heart is made full by helping others.
I feel as though this is my life's purpose, and pledging AKA would allow me to
serve on a larger scale.
What can you bring to the chapter? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>-Dedication
-Loyalty
-Charisma and Work well with people
-Organization
-Event ideas
What can AKA do for you? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>AKA can provide me with
life-long opportunities to fulfill my purpose, to serve others, and change the
world around me. AKA will offer me extreme growth as a woman. Also,
Sisterhood is one of AKA's major founding principles, and this is something
that I have always longed for. When I was 9 years old, I lost my older sister,
Jassmine. She was my best friend and protector. We did everything together,
and she supported me and my dreams. Alpha Kappa Alpha would offer me a
lifelong connection with likeminded, driven women, who care about me just
as much as I care about them.

Does anyone know you want to be an AKA? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>Some may feel as though they have a sense of what I desire to become, but no one knows for sure. *What kind of events did you attend? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>Fish Fry -(National Program Targets > Global Impact > Pillowcase Project for Haiti) *Annual AKA Fashion Show -(National Program Targets > The Arts) -decades *Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Panel -(National Program Targets > Building Your Economic Legacy) **What does pledging mean to you? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>-Pledging is a promise, a vow, an oath to dedicate your highest self to your organization. **How would you define hazing? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>-As defined by Alpha Kappa Alpha, hazing is physical and behavioral acts (underground processes), meant to harm for ***negative reasons. How do you perceive Iota Eta? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>I perceive Iota Eta as a chapter of women with class, high performance and expectations. Iota Eta stays very close knit and within themselves, you never hear of any drama or any information ever leaking out from the Chapter, and I love this. They appear to love and protect each other and their sorority. ****What is the ONE symbol what does it represent? Colors and what they represent? - CORRECT ANSWER >>>Symbol: *Ivy Leaf -the ivy leaf signifies long and lasting friendship. This association is derived from its ability to stay attached to a rocky surface in even the worst conditions. Women of Alpha Kappa Alpha exude strength and endurance like thegreen ivy leaf. Colors:

of Iota Eta. After doing my further research, I found that the pillowcases went toward this effort, and were being used to make dresses and shirts for children in Haiti. This is BEAUTIFUL. As far as the Refugees in America Assistance Program, I believe this is wonderful too. Many refugees seeking a new and better life in America are often treated poorly, and not given the proper assistance that they need to be successful. Through the literacy classes, educational training, and more provided by the Refugees in America Assistance Program, there is even more hope for refugees of color, through the backing of the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
