Lesson 1- Understanding ICT and Its Relevance to
Society
Acronym - a shorthand way of saying an expression,
a phrase, a name of an institution, a method, a place,
or an event formed by combining the first letters of
each word from a series of words
Information and communications technology - refers
technologies that are used to support the processing,
storing, securing, and transmitting of information.
Component of Ict
1. People - individuals responsible for the
development, improvement, and maintenance
of an ICT system
2. Procedures - actions performed in a certain
order and conditions to make sure an ICT
system runs smooth
3. Hardware - technical term used to describe
physical or tangible parts of a computer
system
4. Software - generic term for computer programs
and applications installed in your hardware
5. Data - raw facts or figures that can be
processed, stored, and transmitted by an ICT
systems
6. Information - result of processed, organized,
and structured data
Lesson 2 : Social, Mobile, and Assistive Media
Social media - can be described as websites or
applications that give people the capability to share
and receive information and media contents with one
another.
TYPES OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Social Networking Sites - provide users with a
real-time conversation via text messages, audio, or
video chat
Media-Sharing Sites - primary purpose is to share
multimedia contents like photographs, audio files, or
video
Discussion Sites - designed for individuals who are
avid fans of forums and debates
Bookmarking and Content Curation Sites -platforms
for people who are searching for information or ideas
that will help them on a project they are working on
Blogging and Publishing Network Sites- provide users
with the tools that will help them to publish their
content in a creative and engaging manner
Consumer Review Networks - for people who want to
provide and share information about different products
Mobile Media - refers to communication devices that
are characterized by portability or their ability to be
moved or carried easily
Assistive Media - electronic devices or programs that
seek to reach out to PWDs by providing the support
that will increase or improve their functional
capabilities through the use of technology

Lesson 3 - Convergent Technologies and Evolution of
the Web
Technological convergence or simply technologies -
refer to the state in which two or more technology
entities and functions are combined into one device or
system.
Modalities of Technological Convergence

3. Communication Technology
Computing Technology - refers to the improvements
made on electronic devices or gadgets combining the
functions of two devices into one gadget.
Content Technology - Combines different media
formats such as text, pictures, sounds, and videos into
one multimedia content.
Communication Technology - refers to the fast and
effective transfer of information through the
collaboration of different communication technologies

EVOLUTION OF WEB Web 1.0 - first generation of websites that was marked as read-only web.HTML and CSS for styling are the tools used in web 1. Web 2.0 - Referred to as Writable Web and Social Web.Transformed from static to dynamic webpages in websites. Web 3.0 - The executable web of web evolution. Deliver customized service, perform real-time analysis, and generate reports with AI. Lesson 4 - Uses of the Internet, Online Systems, and Platforms Uses of the Internet

  4. As an entertainment tool Online Systems - Collaboration of hardware, software, and network devices that facilitates the transfer and processing of data among internet-enabled devices Components of an Online System
  5. Terminal Devices - are electronic devices such as desktop computers, laptop, tablets, or smartphone used to send data or instructions to the internet.
  6. Network - A collection of computers, internet devices, and communication media that are used to carry data.
  7. Server - refers to the software system that serves as the storage house of data coming in and out of the system. 4. Processing Systems - Referred to as Information System. A group of hardware and software designed to collect, process, store and distribute information. Online Platforms - refer to websites or online applications that used by businesses or organizations to offer their products or services using the internet. Classifications of Online Platform Users

Lesson 5 - Making Oneโ€™s Self Safe in the Cyber World Password - a combination of texts, numbers, and/or special characters to secure accounts can be weak (e.g. names, common words, birthdates, etc.) or strong (combination of all characters) The Cyber World, also known as Cyberspace, is virtual in nature and unbounded unlike our physical environment.
