Ageism: discrimination against elders because of increasing age (ill, unfriendly,
unattractive)
Age -specific approach: engage them and provide adequate time
Correlate between physical and psychosocial aging changes
Sensory changes - decreases vision and hearing, changes in taste, muscle
weakness, poor eyesight, decreased gastric secretions and emptying
Skin changes - lesions, loss of skin integrity, loss of facial fat, loss of visual acuity
Vitals: lower BP
Delirium: acute confused state
Dementia: Chroric mental impairment
