2 Week 3: Discussion 1.When taking care of patients, why do you think it is important to utilize the appropriate resources? 2.How do you think the evidence from nursing journals affects patient care? 3.What role does using the right evidence play in being a professional nurse? 4.What role does understanding plagiarism and academic integrity play in being a professional nurse? It is essential to use the appropriate resources when caring for patients to ensure they receive quality care because their well-being will pay the price, which could be life or death at the end of the day. Appropriate resources can include medical textbooks, databases, and other sources of evidence-based medicine to help the practitioner make an accurate diagnosis, provide the most effective treatment, and reduce the potential for medical errors. Furthermore, access to the right resources can help educate the patient and the practitioner on relevant topics while increasing patient satisfaction. Evidence from nursing journals can have a positive impact on patient care by providing nurses with the latest evidence-based practices and research. Nursing journals help nurses stay updated on the most effective strategies for providing patient care, and this information can inform decisions about the best care practices for individual patients. Furthermore, citing evidence from journals in support of proposed changes to patient care protocols can demonstrate the potential benefits to both patient outcomes and organizational goals. This, in fact, can be helpful when advocating for changes in patient care at organizational or higher levels. Using the proper evidence is essential to being a professional nursing student. As nurses, it is vital to be able to support any care decisions or interventions we make with evidence-based practice. That means relying on scientific research, current clinical guidelines, and best practices from experts in the field to guide our decisions. Using the best evidence available helps ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care and reduces the risk of errors. Additionally, evidence-based practice helps nursing students develop the necessary critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide comprehensive and compassionate care. Understanding plagiarism and academic integrity play an important role in being a professional nursing student because it is essential for maintaining academic honesty. Not only does understanding plagiarism and academic integrity help ensure that students are not engaging in unethical practices, but it also teaches nursing students the importance of accurately citing sources in their work and accurately representing the ideas of others. Understanding these concepts can help nursing students develop the skills they need to be successful in their fields, such as research and communication.
