223232 First-year Female Full-time My experience at Baylor has been awful. I thought that I would gain some intellectual growth during my time
here, but my hopes have been crushed by the superficial students that inhabit Baylor University. Students are
more concerned with themselves and their "things" than learning. I'm actually shocked that parents could raise
such ignorant and superficial children. If Baylor University students are an indication of America's future then I
would be better off living in North Korea. I came here with such high hopes, but was let down by superficial
students who use religion as an excuse for them to whatever they want. I do acknowledge that this should not
apply to all of Baylor's students, but speaking as a Dean’s List student who has had ample time to observed her
classmates; this seems like a reasonable assumption. I would also acknowledge that most of Baylor's professors
and teachers are amazing. Most of them are driven and dedicated. Almost every teacher I have had has been very

I've made some incredible friends here as well---living on campus has really helped me form somedeep relationships and has given me the chance to live and learn alongside others. Lastly, being an athlete hasbeen a great experience! My coach is Christ-centered and has helped me improve in my running so much! 223232 First-year^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor University is the most amazing institution in the world. There is really no place like it. And it'simpossible to describe, you have to see for yourself. :) 223232 First-year^

Female^ Full-time^ I love Baylor so much. Last semester I did not do well with my grades at all. It was an internal struggle but thissemester Baylor has gotten in touch with me multiple ways, making sure I have all the resources I need in orderto succeed. I am so thankful that Baylor is a school that does not weed out bad students, but encourages everysingle person to be fully successful in academics, spirituality, sociall, etc. Sic 'em bears! 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ Worst part about Baylor is easily the residence halls. They're dirty, cramped, and poorly maintained. Showersare rarely warm, consistently too warm. The food is good, but the selection is mediocre and the stations begin toclose down and remove food at least an hour before the hall closes. These things are trivial however, for theamount of money I'm paying to go to school here, the residence and dining halls, fall FAR, FAR, below whatthey should be. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ Baylor is great! 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ I'm having a great time at Baylor and really enhancing my education and life in general. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ So far Baylor University has been fantastic. There is an element of community here that I have never comeacross at any other college campus across the state of Texas. It may have its logistic ups and downs as does anymajor institution but the learning environment and overall feeling of the student population has been second tonone. I feel i have grown a lot in both academic and spiritual aspects of my life and that was something i reallyneed. All in all i couldn't imagine being anywhere else nor would i want to be. (Wish it would cost a little lessthough) 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ The education is amazing, but their are a few things that should be addressed, not education related. I surveyshould be given about general complaints of the students, to access where the school needs to focus it's attention. An example is that I saw that Baylor is going to spend over a million dollars trying to renovate the living areasaround campus. I believe if you asked any student, they would choose to rather spend that money building moreparking. But thats only one example, unrelated to education. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ I don't want you to view my responses as a condemnation of the Baylor academic experience, as my view ofBaylor's academic quality is very high. I am basing my responses of the entry level courses I have already taken.I expect much higher levels of thinking in my future classes. I joined both Business Fellows (which gives me 30-40 electives) and the Honors Program during winter break. The Great Texts course I am now taking is verychallenging and engaging. I love this place and really believe that Baylor will become a top 20-30 ish type ofinstitution in the future. As Robert Griffin III said in his Heisman Trophy speech "We compete. We win. We areBaylor." I'm greatful for the opportunity that has been given to me to attend first class institution such as Baylorand am proud to be a Bear!!

Male^ Full-time^ My educational experience has been great. Disciplinary actions taken by the school is absurd though. My friendbroke an exit sign in the Penland Residence Hall and since I didn't stop him, I am on disciplinary probation forthe whole school year, had to talk to a counselor, write a reflection journal, and do the "strengths quest". Thisprobation places me in a negative light to other individuals as well as other Universities. As a strong leader,Eagle Scout, and good student, I am appauled in the way the University decided to handle the situation and itstrongly persuades me to transfer to a different University. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ The emphasis on Christian thought limits the scope of education at Baylor -- there simply is not enough variety.I feel like I am being educated inside of a high-strung bubble. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ Overall I like Baylor, the reason why I said I would probably not pick it is that it doesn't specialize enough in thearea that I want to study. It would be nice to have a bit of diversity, not just generic, broad classes. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ The educational experience I am receiving will not help me in my professional career. I thought this would be agood school for me, but it has not taught me anything I need or did not already explore on my own. 223232 First-year^

Male^ Full-time^ The academics here at Baylor are just as competitive as other well known schools, but not being a religiousperson, it is a little difficult to feel accepted here. However, the science department is excellent and that is why Iam here. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Both of my parents (and MANY other family members) graduated from Baylor, so this campus has always beenhome for me - in fact, I didn't apply anywhere else but to Baylor as a senior in high school. But, now that I amalmost finished at this great university, I look back over my years here and realize that Baylor has given me somany great memories, friends, and knowledge; I cannot imagine what my life would be like had I not attendedBaylor. It is a great school that pushes its students to succeed and become ambassadors and leaders in theirrespective fields. I am a Baylor Bear, and proud of it. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ YAY BAYLOR! 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor needs to apply more to the educational foundation. I know they are trying, but I see more emphasis onmaking the campus 'beautiful', then focusing on the students. I think the professors in the CommunicationDepartment are incredible educators that devote time in and outside of the classroom to help their students makethe most of themselves and receive what they can from Baylor while making the most of their future goals. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor has changed my life in the greatest way. I would be nowhere near ready to enter the real world if itweren't from the education I have received here. I recommend this institution to anyone who wants to advancetheir lives in education, spirituality, and community. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is a wonderful university, but, as a Catholic and from a multi-cultural background, I feel that Baylor islargely unaccepting of (or looks down upon) those that are not Baptist (or at least Protestant), white, and from acertain way of life. While the student body is slightly diverse, many Freshman I encountered were openly racist, homophobic, and extremely judgmental of those that are from different faith backgrounds, or were atheist. Ibelieve that this is largely encouraged by the tone of many professors, tone of the student handbook, and inabilityof the administration to accept students for who they are. I find it interesting that Baylor will accept a studentthat is of good academic standing, and encourage them to attend Baylor through generous scholarshipopportunities, but then encourage an environment that is generally homogeneous and uncultured. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ My number one thing I found lacking at Baylor University was the lack of concern for encouraging dialoguebetween students who come from different backgrounds - i.e., students who do not fulfill the University'spreferred Christian and conservative standards, primarily, and diverse ethnic backgrounds. 223232 Senior^

As a result, my advisor couldn't offer much guidanceon making sure my minor was completed, so I had to go on my own to the Business School and take care of it. Female^ Full-time^ The best experiences that I have gained from Baylor have been through the BIC (Baylor Interdisciplinary Core)program. Female^ Full-time^ I have trully loved being a student at Baylor University. My only complaint after 4 years is that I feel that Baylorunknowingly creates a community of judgemental people instead of loving Christian leaders. I think that this iscome thing Baylor can definitely change if it encourages people to love one another whether or not they are yoursame race and especially whether or not they share your religion. Female^ Full-time^ Although the faculty is excellent at Baylor, I have often had trouble with the staff. Oftentimes, they have beenrude, incompetent, or unhelpful. Unfortunately, this has not been a few exceptions to the rule, but rather areoccurring incident. I think it is so important that staff are friendly, helpful, encouraging, and competent, butalso that they reflect Christ, as this is a Christian university. Female^ Full-time^ Please note that my responses on this current school year concerning faculty, encouragement, time spentingstudying, etc all are directly commenting the Louise Herrington School of Nursing program. This program, although great and known for graduating competent, caring nurses is difficult not only because of thecurriculum, but also because much of the faculty are set in their ways, communicate poorly, and do not view theinctructor-student relationship the same way that other professors on Baylors main campus viewed it. In myopinion, some of the faculty are rigid and patrionizing. When a mistake is made at the administration level, it issaid that when they try to apologize, it doesn't go the way they wish for it to so they have stopped apologizing. Ihave a large graduating class and our generation is known for speaking up when there is injustice or if we havequestions. As always, there will be students who take it too far and become disrespectful. But, it seems that a lotof the faculty and administrators are now constantly on the defensive with any question. It makes it difficult toreally trust and form relationships with them. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ baylor is a stifling environment for anyone who does not conform to the conservative norms imposed here. ifBaylor wants to be an ivy league school and attract the best candidates, they are going to have to open their armsa little and let EVERYONE have a voice and not be so threatened by different ideas. that being said I wouldn'tchange my experience here for anything--it helped me realize who I was and was not, and who I actually want tobe. becaus I was surrounded by a world I didn't want to be a part of. I've learned a lot here, and had some trulyunique and excellent experiences here, but I do wish I hadn't had to hide and lie about about so much what Ithink to get along here 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I am 40 years old, and I wish there were more support for older students returning to school. The campus isdefinitely geared towards typical college students. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The education was very high quality just not as focused on research as I needed it to be. Also some broad classrequirements (like four semesters of a foreign language) RUINED my life 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is AWESOME!!!! 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ While attending this school, it helped me a great deal that I had professors who loved their jobs and to helpothers. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is not a Baptist school. It is a "coexist" school and it should quite claiming to be a Christian school. Manyof the professors don't attempt to strengthen your faith in Christ. The professors I have had almost discourageyour faith or tell you that you're being intolerant if you believe Jesus is the only Way, Truth and Life--which is a"Baptist" belief, by the way. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I love Baylor. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is very strict on which classes students may take and minor in. I felt very limited in what options ofclasses I had and very little room to take "fun" classes that I felt would enrich my education. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I have loved every moment at Baylor. Baylor is a wonderful university and eploys womderful professors. Thankyou Baylor! Sic' Em!! 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The Nutrition department is not very helpful with helping us go through the internship/post-graduation routes. No one I have talked to, past or present, has said they haven't at one point or another gone to get help fromsomeone outside Baylor for information because we can't get it here. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor University (Big Baylor) was wonderful to me. I was there for two years and enjoyed my time. It wasdifficult, dont get me wrong... I did not spend much time "relaxing", but things were fair and there was helpavailable. Then I was accepted to the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. I have beenTHOROUGHLY disappointed with this program and have not recommended it to everyone. There is not anycommunication throughout the school, there is not any help, too much is expected (we cannot physically get thework done that we are required to do), and there is not any career counseling/help before graduation. I will NOTbe recommending this school to anyone who asks me about it because I am not happy with the two years I havewasted at this school

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor University has provided an exceptional community for me to grow as a student academically, spiritually, mentally, and physically. I have been challenged with tough curriculum, however, my professors have by farbeen some of the best. Their support, encouragement, and eagerness for me to succeed have helped me growacademically and personally. Seeing the way they reflect Christ in the classrooms and through the way they helpand encourage me and other students is remarkable. I am blessed to be at this institution and to call myself aBaylor Bear. (sic 'em!) My pre-health advisors are also very welcoming and are always happy to help answer anyquestions and provide me with guidance for the pre-dental journey. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to knowmany of my Baylor professors as well as other wonderful students. The professors here are quite special people, and I do have to say a special thanks to them for doing what they do and upholding the values that Baylor holdsso dearly. They are truly genuine and inspirational. Baylor is very unique in this sense. And I hope that peoplecontinue to recognize what an outstanding institution this is. The Baylor experience is absolutely wonderful, andI hope that others are able to experience this Because of what Baylor has done for me and the changes that I 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ As to the questions that address racial diversity, diversity of beliefs, etc - Baylor's student body is reallyhomogenous. I didn't feel that there were opportunities to spend time with students of other races because therewere just not many students of other races.
Or maybe that's just me not meeting any... 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Having Baylor classes to attend while Student Teaching, planning lessons, being involved with faculty meetings, and completing Baylor assignments is very overwhelming. I feel like I have missed out on a lot of my senior yearand went straight from a Junior to the real world while still having to balance classwork. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The teachers in the science department, for the most part aren't helpful. They are here to do research and theirteaching ability is poor. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The faculty at this institution are extremely supportive, and I am thankful for the opportunities I had here. Oneof the reasons I would probably not attend this institution if I had the opportunity to begin my undergraduatecareer all over again is because I found it difficult to fit in with the student body and campus environment. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ True diversity in this institution is lacking 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The Communications school has incredible professors. The engineering school has some great professors andsome terrible ones that actually often made students discouraged to the point of tears and seemed to harborspecial dislike of women in the field. There are 3-4 incredible engineering professors, the rest made me wish Ihad chosen a different school based on how they discouraged learning. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is an amazing school with great professors and a great expierence! This college leads you to know whoyou are! Which is what all 18-25 year olds are asking.

Female^ Full-time^ Using such a long survey that is this time consuming could end up being a confound in the data because it couldbe tempting to just select an answer, even if it is not the right one, to get through the questions 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ This was difficult for me to answer because I am not a normal college student. I answered these questions to thebest of my ability, but as a senior education major I am in a year long internship teaching in the classroomMonday-Thursday and working on Baylor Projects while in the classroom and at the University on Fridays. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Some classes that are large core classes should have more than one professor/time that they are offered because itis hard to sign up for them when everyone has to take it. Also, the professor isn't available to be there to helpeveryone in those classes so having TA's or other students help out would help more students to do better. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Everything I evaluated on this survey is only in regards to the nursing school in Dallas. I have never attendedBaylor in Waco. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor has provided me with an enriching, diverse education. My experience has shaped me into a well-roundedyoung woman. As this pertains to my evaluation of the university as a whole, there is one educational aspect thatis in need of considerable improvement. I am a psychology major - I've been passionate about this field since Iwas 16 years old, the same year I declared this to be my field of study. As I reflect over my last 4 years (I amcurrently a senior), I began to lose my passion in psychology due to the interactions and experiences I had withfaculty and advisors, alike. It wasn't until I was afforded with an opportunity with the Veterans Affairs Hospital, that I wanted to achieve my dream. I am dissatisfied with how professors in the department would make cynicalremarks to my future endeavors, with the problem revolving around my grade-point average. Even though myGPA hovers at a 3.0, I was told countless times that I would not succeed in the field and that I needed to pursuea different route. Attention should be payed to the psychology department, in order to improve future experiencesof incoming psychology majors 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor does an awful job of helping students to graduate on time. They require that you do summer school, butsummer school at Baylor is unaffordable for most students. Baylor administration should cut down on theamount of liberal arts requirements in order to help those that choose to change their major to graduate on time.I am spending 6 years in college because I changed my major and transferred in. 4 English courses, 2 sciencecourses, a history course, and a political science course, etc are all subjects that can be condensed into onestrategically planned course. Also, advisors do a bad job for freshman by not telling them to take bio and chemtheir first semester because it puts freshman in a bad place where they have to take summer courses or spend anextra semester. Overall, Baylor does an awful job at graduating students on time. Either you come in with extracredits from high school or you take 2 or more summer classes.

Female^ Full-time^ I'm in the Honors Program, and I've taken classes from some pretty excellent professors during my time atBaylor (both Honors and non-honors). Studying abroad was one of the best decisions I made during my time atBaylor. The Baylor in Maastricht Pre-med program is fantastic. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I feel that Baylor should be more accepting and tolerant of the feared other. There is such a stigma and aversionto ideas, things, people, etc that are not necessarily Baylor approved. This is surely one of the things holdingBaylor back from reaching top tier status. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is an amazing university, and I hope to attend Baylor for graduate school, as well. I love Baylor! 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The computers at the SUB and BSB are always malfunctioning along with the printers. It can be a greatinconvenience at times. The library is at full capacity; thus, it is difficult to find a place to study in the libraryespecially at night. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ The professors and staff are amazing and went above and beyond expectations. The other students on the otherhand for the most part are immature and annoying, and Baylor needs to treat them more like adults to preventthis from being the case. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I think Baylor is very underrated right now, but we are starting to build a broader reputation. A lot of people donot realize how hard the academics are at Baylor. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ Baylor is great, I just hope we continue to push into the national spotlight! 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I've had several run ends with teachers who were disrespectful and acted like they knew everything. Theythought that because they have a PhD that they knew more than I did. I was talked down to and basically toldthat I didn't know what I was talking about and that I was basically stupid. 223232 Senior^

Female^ Full-time^ I felt like the department is very unorganized especially with times and availability of courses. Female^ Part-time^ I have enjoyed most of my classes here, however, I do not think it is an institution I would recommend for olderstudents. I do not feel faculty and staff are well prepared for this. 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ I decided to attend Baylor, because I thought it was going to be an institution that would help and guide itsstudents towards their goals. What I found was a far cry from my expectations. Aside from a few professors,Baylor's faculty has been overall unhelpful and rigid. They have stifled much of the college experience withoverly stringent rules and regulations. Were it not for the wonderful friends that I have made here at Baylor, Iwould have transferred a long time ago. 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ Great educational experience! I do recommend that the music advising process be changed from the veryimpersonal and ineffective process (resembling a cattle call) that is currently in place, but that is a minor detail.Keep up the wonderful education and don't let Baylor lose it's integration of Christian world view and learning. It is very important! 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ Allow students use of laptops in class for note taking in more cases. Should they choose to waste their time onFacebook that is not the fault of the teacher, and is outweighed by the students that achieved more due to havingmore complete typed notes. If computers are too distracting for a student it is that students loss and alsoresponsibility to recognize the problem. Professors can usually make seating charts to put laptop users towardsthe back/sides to avoid distracting others, but I think the introduction of more horizontally-screened devices likeiPads attached to lightweight keyboards will make electronic note taking less intrusive generally. 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ this place can focus less on emphasizing something banal like athletics and rather redirect their attention tomore useful things such as the arts or promote social events for people to get to know each other better 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ Each person's experience at Baylor is different. An individual can go through four years here picking professorsthat won't challenge them and classes that they can breeze through but in every department there are demandingprofessors who teach one as much about their subject are as they do about life and for those profs I'm thankful. 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ As an honors student being advised twice is a lot of overhead. The whole advising process needs to be rethought. It is slow, bulky and I did not have an advisor who was a professor. 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ Many classes are too big. I don't feel that I received individual attention, even though I have tried tutoring, which due to my ADHD has made it very difficult. Even though my grandfather, grandmother, uncle, greataunt, and father graduated from Baylor, they would all believe that I should have attended a university that hadsmaller classes and better academic support. The extremely high cost of Baylor combined with the inadequatesupport make me strongly doubt the wisdom of my decision. Unfortunately, I am too deep to change now.

Male^ Full-time^ Please get off your racial diversity high horse. We should be more worried about merit, free exchange of ideas, and understanding rather than racial diversity. I come from a multi-racial background and Spanish is my firstlanguage. Yet, I was both offended and repulsed by the number of racial diversity questions. It is an affront toreal learning and education. Knowledge and ideas is not tainted by skin color or cultural background. They areeither meritorious and worth learning or discussing. Or they are not. Please stop wasting time on the un-American concerns of racial diversity. All you have to worry about is the free exchange of ideas, and diversitywill sort itself out 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ I have learned much more about myself outside of Baylor's environment, as they only encourage a narrowminded view of the world and it isolates so many of us here. 223232 Senior^

Male^ Full-time^ This semester marks the second semester my classmates have gotten away with cheating. I have been proud tohold integrity, and they all cheat. It was a recent decision to not honor the Baylor honor code and let them stayin the class. They ruin the curve for all of The people who hace integrity. Why would I want to go to a universitywhere the professors don't want to meet with you and the faculty head doesn't do anything about cheating in theclassroom? I don't. This was a waste of time and I will never recommend Baylor's Neuroscience program toanyone. Even after I send this I doubt anyone will even read this survey, but if so, the class I'm talking about isClinical Neuroscience with Dr. Bradley Keele and the class that again let the cheaters have leniency isBehavioral Neuroscience 223232 Senior^
