1. Give an example of how an obligation is extinguished by payment or performance.
Ms. De Leon paid Mr. Perez by finishing her house interior design.
2. Give an example of how an obligation is extinguished by loss of the thing due.
Ms. De Leon promised to deliver to Mr. Perez a specific dog. The dog met an accident resulted to
its death.
3. Give an example of how an obligation is extinguished by condonation.
Mr. Perez owes Ms. De Leon PHP 5,000. When the debt matured, Ms. De Leon told Mr. Perez
that he does not need to pay the debt since she renounces it.
4. Give an example of how an obligation is extinguished by confusion or merger of rights.
A owes B amounting to PHP 10,000. Suddenly, A passed away and his debt passes on to his wife
C, B who also has a debt to C amounting PHP 10,000, hands it to C.
5. Give an example of how an obligation is extinguished by compensation.
Ms. De Leon has a debt to Mr. Perez amounting PHP 1,000. Mr. Perez has a debt to Ms. De Leon
amounting to PHP 1,000.
